hate to break it to you. but those are all probably going to be destroyed at a significant cost, rather than sold for a significant income to law abiding citizens.

Actually Hoppy I would not lay money on them being destroyed. Those look like IP to me so my money is on reemployment followed by resale and a small number (maybe) destroyed.

I dont get it.
They line them up all pretty and such and then toss them willy nilly into a dumpster!

They look better all laid out when taking photos.. that way they can say "look at all this stuff we ended up with"... Not, "oh boy a big box of stuff, yay that photo sucks"...

But why reissue them if you can buy new ones at enormous expense? You'll never get ahead in government thinking like that.

what happens to all these couse the last I herd they ran um over with tanks then bought them brand new ones "Dumb"
"The ak47 if a fine rifle I would be willing to Take one of em off the streets"
PS where are all the the mags for these if they took 30RD's from each of the 880 rifles seased that would be 30X880 or around 26400 rounds Lifetime supply

I don't know the circumstances under which these rifles were taken but I would be willing to bet many of them were "turned in" with empty mags and a hot barrel. Just a guess.

I would run naked into the middle of it and make a Soviet snow angel

Those are turn-ins involving Sadr City militants showing cooperation by giving up some of their weapons(at least that was what I think the article was about that I recognize those photos from). Those in good enough condition will no doubt see service. The rougher ones(which is likely to be the majority) will be scrapped.

And no you can't ever have one. Your government has decided that you are less trustworthy with select-fire rifles than Iraqis.

Wouldn't they all have to be converted?

They can't be converted. Once a MG, always a MG.

They could have the receivers destroyed and the remaining parts (except the barrels) imported as "parts kits." I don't think that is being done with any weapons in Iraq though. Most likely they will be destroyed.

My older brother was recalled to service a few years ago at age 55.
His job in the Army was burning captured Firearms in Uzbekistan.

He destroyed AK's old German and Turkish mausers even STG44's.
Ever seen a Warrent officer Cry?
