Here is a set of links to a speech and Q&A that Alan Gura made at the City Club of Cleveland on July 7, 2008. He speaks to the reasoning behind DC vs. Heller, how it came to be, what the decision means, and what process was used to get this case heard. A Q&A session follows the speech.
Gura makes it clear Heller is a keep case and not about anything but keeping arms and confirming the individual right. He does talk some about what arms are and what constitutes reasonable regulation. These are not short videos and it will take some time to watch all of them. I encourage you to watch the CCoC videos in one sitting as they are a contiguous presentation.
I hope you find this enlightening and that it answers some of the questions that I've seen floating around THR with regard to what Heller was about and what it means. He states clearly that this is not the end, it will be an incremental process, and that not everyone is going to be happy with Heller.
