^ Irrelevent grandstanding... The new law has provisions that negate any local laws no matter when passed.

The gun grabbers are rushing to pass new bans before their 10 day window runs out.

I looked at the ISRA page and their list of cities involved in this nonsense shows that eight have enacted AWB's and there are some others considering the idea. I couldn't help but notice that virtually all of the cities involved are located right around Chicago. While I consider ANY ban ridiculous, it's not surprising that these cities are considering the ban factoring in their location. Too bad, but you couldn't drag me to Chicago if they were handing out free money on Michigan Avenue so I really don't have a dog in their fight.
Their big problem is that they won' leave the rest of us alone. If they want to disarm themselves and live in a war-zone, OK, but don't drag me along for the ride.
I've long espoused chiseling off the NE corner of Illinois and giving it to either Indiana or Wisconsin-makes NO difference. Whichever state is willing, can have the place.
I see you're in NW Indiana, interested?

The U.S. Supreme Court's Heller and MacDonald decisions made it clear that the right to keep and bear arms was a Constitutionally protected civil right. In view of this it’s likely that sooner or later (likely sooner) outright bans at all levels of government are going to be challenged. So if these Illinois counties want to ban rifles or other firearms with an obvious connection to the Militia of the United States, they better have a substantial budget set aside to litigate their proposed ordinance.

Also there is the issue of compensation for present owners with legally possessed arms that will fall under the new law. :uhoh:

If these towns pass these bans, they will probably be sued just as Chicago was sued and likely with similar results.

Reminds me of something I think was attributed to one of the Founding Fathers about "we hang together or we will surely hang separately".

I guess those towns want "separately".

Wisconsin sure as heck doesn't want any part of Chicago. We're too close as it is.
