I am happy with this holster. Well made, very well made. I have a question for other Alessi holster owners. The plastic clip on the holster. Seems like a part that will break in no time, not much of a gap to ride over your belt and jeans. What are your experiences?

The talon doesn't clip over your belt it clips on the jeans waist band. The clip itself is very sturdy, I've never heard of one breaking. Had mine for years and it's still in one piece.

Thanks for the info. I see. the clip goes over your jeans, and the belt over the clip. Thanks again for the advice

I used to have a Kahr MK40 with an Alessi Talon Plus holster ... I guess I was doing it wrong since I had the clip over my belt.

Nice holster, and I ordered it directly from Lou Alessi himself. You can be pretty much guaranteed he'll stand behind the holster (even if you break a clip).

I've had mine quite a while now with no problems. I'm somewhat surprised just how durable that plastic clip is, considering the way I abuse it when I remove it.

I usually wear mine over the belt also. The clip has a ridge at the end that comes up under the belt, catching the belt and making it very unlikely to come off accidentally.

I can see why someone would want to wear it under the belt: it's less obvious that way. However, I usually wear something over the gun long enough that it covers the belt anyway.

You can get them at RF Holsters.

The clip will fit over a belt, but not a very thick one. I think there are different versions of the Talon clips. Mine is a little too tight to fit over a belt with any thickness to it - and it doesn't need to.

I've broken one Talon clip, rather a friend broke it for me, trying to force it over an 1 3/4" double thickness belt. I returned it to Lou, offering to pay. The round trip was eight days (considering that first class mail from here to Amherst is three days each way, not too shabby :) ). Lou refused payment. I only clip over a thin, civilian belt when wearing dress slacks or suit pants. The materials on these are too soft at the waistband for good support. I usually wear jeans or khakis, with heavier materials. The Talon clip gets a firmer "bite" and belt pressure over the clip holds everything in place.

My son uses a Talon on an almost daily basis for his SIG P239. In the last 4 years he has broken 2 Talon clips and Lou replaced both free of charge. His only broke because he wasn't being careful how he was getting into his car and the clip would catch on the seatbelt latch and snap. He is more careful now.

Talon clip

Years ago we all put the clip over the belt, clipping under the belt is a recent thing (I know, I'm showing my age). I have a drawer full of Talons, that is all I would carry off duty, and I think it is an excellent holster. I have NEVER broken one, but if I did I'm sure Lou would replace it. I did take a file and round off the sharp corners on the end of the clip so they wouldn't catch my over-shirt.
