Alliant powders are coming back... they're DOUBLE the price

With inflation and shortages it now costs more to bake bread than to buy bread. I’d still rather eat my wife’s home baked bread than the garbage they sell at the grocery store.
We all have to make decisions.

I'm still loading 9mm only because of my previously bought stash of components. It won't be long before I'm shooting the cheap store bought crap. If I can afford that after buying bread.

Sure.
$6 for the bread, $15 S/H, and $10 Ag&FDA fee. She’s not licensed for sales so you’ll have to sign a waiver, too.
The next time you (the generic “you” like y’all) wonder why things are so expensive, add up all the costs of taxation & regulations and deduct it from the selling price.
Can I pick up at your local range? Well not until late fall when temps are bearable.

I’m actually beginning to consider (that’s not actually considering mind you) saving my 9mm components and buying 9mm factory ammo. Gun show coming up next month and can buy cheaper without shipping. Just considering considering.

In trying to be proactive, I already did exactly that. I'm saving my remaining 8k of spp and 5,5k of lpp, and powders for all my other handgun calibers.
I shoot more 9mm than anything so for me it makes sense.

I have used Alliant Powders (Bullseye and Unique) for 40 years. Am just about out now. Large Corporation corporate greed, with the principle of producing less
and charging more, has led me to find other alternatives.

Holy Reloder 22 for 60/pound.
Gee they sure are proud of that.
I guess that's where it's going, as I was in one of our bigger shops not long ago and IMR powders were running that number.
Is what it is............

I stocked up last year for $40 or less per pound, although none of it was Alliant. It was a bit hard to stomach at $40 but now I'm glad I did!

chris
I did most of my stocking pre-covid but I was able to find some N-540 for $30 lb recently. It's versatile enough that I can use in 223 and 308 loads, which is what I shoot most of the time.

A bad deal is a bad deal, doesn't mean that's the only price for that powder.

Midway has jacked up prices on plenty of powder lines, Alliant isn't special in that regard.

I've seen Alliant better priced at several different online vendors including my "local" that sells online as well.

Expand your purview beyond Midway and Natchez and you can get a better deal.

Midway has never been a good place to buy powder. Even before prices went crazy they were regularly $10 more per pound for powder. Powder Valley shows Unique for $32. Of course its sold out. Either wait for it to come back in stock at a lower price somewhere else or pay inflated prices.
FWIW last time I bought Unique it was $72 for 4 lbs in 2017.

I just paid $44 retail for a one pound can of Green Dot. It's the first GD I've seen in two years. It should last me through to Spring.
