For the IMR vs. H prefix powders, I double checked the labels from pictures of powder jugs sold by Natchez (example: https://www.natchezss.com/imr-powder-4227-rifle-powder-8-lbs)

IMR 4227 is made in Canada, packaged in USA
IMR 4198 is made in Canada, packaged in USA
IMR 4895 is made in Canada, packaged in USA

Note: The above are all "standard IMR" powders that were made by Dupont long ago, but have been made only in Canada in recent decades. Below are the two "oddball" IMRs made in Australia

Trail Boss is made in Australia, packaged in USA
8208 XBR is made in Australia, packaged in USA

For the extruded powders with an H prefix, all are made in Australia.

RL 15 ... pounds were $54 and 8 pounders were well north of $400. I grabbed some TAC at $34 each and boogied.
Same here. When I finally found some rifle powders for 55/62/69/75 gr testing, they were marked $59 per pounds and I ended up not buying them.

Instead, I placed an order for Natchez and paid $34 for TAC and bought more of H335 at $39.

Hodgdon H335 and Ramshot TAC are comparable/close so this ought to be interesting.

I decided a long time ago that my shooting habits are such that cost of components is really not a factor in my purchase decisions. But sweet Maryjane is it getting harder to stick to that!

N135 would be great... Midway was 309 less than 40 a pound...

H335 was like W231/HP-38 for pistol loads, good all purpose target load powders for 380Auto/.38 Spl/9mm/40S&W/45ACP/45Colt and later Promo took over general purpose range blasting loads for 9mm/45ACP and PCC in 9mm (I haven't done load development for 40S&W/45ACP PCC loads yet ... I am planning to do it this summer after .223 55/62/69/75 gr 0.1 gr incremental load development).

Then Johnny's Reloading Bench and others started getting really good groups with AR Comp but it was hardly available along with Benchmark which I had hoped to compare with. Well, when they were finally available, prices kept going up and now it's around $60 per pound. And what if even I was to spend the money to buy 8 lbs and when that ran out, AR Comp was not readily available or Alliant haven't started making canisters powders in full production?

I even thought about biting the bullet and buying 8 lb containers of Varget, H4895, AR Comp and even Vihtavuori powders to try out but when the shopping cart tipped over $1500, I took a step back and did some thinking and decided to buy more of H335 and BL-C(2) I had on hand and add TAC (I had already picked up a pound of StaBALL Match at $59 to try).

So I am planning to test H335 for 55/62 gr, TAC for 62/69 gr and BL-C(2)/StaBALL Match for 69/75 gr.

I decided a long time ago that my shooting habits are such that cost of components is really not a factor in my purchase decisions.
When Vihtavuori powder pricing became comparable to Hodgdon/Alliant powders and for a while even cheaper, I seriously thought about picking up a pound each of N320/N340 (Which I had already tested but now for PCC loads) and N130/N135/N140. But decided if I was going to spend so much time doing 0.1 gr incremental load development, it would benefit more of THR members to do with more commonly available powders at lower prices.

You’re kinda the VV spokesperson ‘round here…..
Has your experience found a comparable VV powder to Unique in burn rate AND download-ability…..?
I haven't used the 300 series. For most people n340 or n350 would do most everything.... I shoot a lot of mag loadings so I just bought an 8 of n110 that came in yesterday.... I'm a value guy that lived and still load with a looot of ramshot.... I got 8lbs of blue dot in trade for 8lbs of tac so I went wild with that, only 2lbs left in a year.
I've used 2 lbs of n135 in 308 and a third pound is on the shelf....

You’re going to miss that Blue Dot when it’s gone. There’s really nothing else like it. 800x is close but no cigar. No.7 does a lot of the same things but not the same way. Maybe N350 is The It but I haven’t tried it so can’t say for sure. If you do a SxS between N350 and Blue Dot I would be interested in the results. I’m only four or five years from running out. At my current rate of use.

There are two oddball powders, and I bet 3n38 is closer to bluedot.... so many powders to test so little time..... I'm working on a imr4198 load with 7.7 and then 6.5x55 with 140 matchburners and n165.

If I didn't shoot 357 Magnum, I wouldn't be bothered too much if those were the only powders I could afford. H335, TAC, & W231 cover everything I use except full power 357 Magnum loads. W231 works great for 38 Special and 357 Mag target level loads. If I can't find good loads with the rifle powders from Shooters World, I may revisit TAC. I didn't do the same level of load development with H335, but I bet it would shoot nearly as good as TAC with light bullets in 5.56 and I bet TAC would shoot pretty well in my 30-30 too. Right now, H335 is the accuracy king for that caliber and the cast bullets I typically use.

26.0 grains tac under a cast 170 definitely gets er done...

How did N135 do in 308? what weight bullets? Close to the 4895s?

I tried to contact Alliant last night on there contact us online communication. This is what I got - All Fields Have to Be Filled In - tried 3 times thinking I was screwing it up same thing happened each time looks like they don’t want to be bothered now that this has came out on availability.
