Well HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! The wife was true to her promise and I am now the proud owner of an RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Reloading Kit plus the carbide dies for .38/.357!

Tonight I'm going to finish building the bench I plan to mount it on and then I can get to work on loads for cowboy action shooting (.38 special) as it seems like an easy type of load to learn on.

Congrats! I just got my LCT set up over the Holiday Weekend, and loaded some mild to warm .38's as well. They are a very forgiving cartridge to learn on, but I still goofed up a few :D Just take your time and you'll be on your way!

good for you!.....I've had mine for about a month now and have rolled about 400 .357s and a coupla hundred .460s on it. I thought I bought it to save money but have found myself spending the same..... just shootin' a lot more.

Oh darn, now I need to get a case tumbler (grin)

Can anyone recommend a specific model (or at least tell me what's garbage so I don't buy a lousy one).

ive heard things about the frankford arsenal quick-n-ez tumbler that were not good.

i heard these things after i had ordered one a couple months ago.

ive ran it 3-4 hrs probably every other day since then with no probs.

i love the smell that rcbs crushed walnut puts out while its running. and today got the last bag of zilla that petsmart had.

1 tip:

once you get your running try this.

get it all setup, and get some crushed wal nut and start tumbling some cases.

take note of the speed at which everything is moving.

then cut up a fabric softener sheet (like bounce sheets) into 1 inch squares and put them in the mix and let it work in a few minutes.

now look at the speed everythings moving.

not only do they seem to slick everything up a bit, they help polish the brass, as well as cleans your media while you clean your brass. they come out filthy after a couple of hrs.

tumbling is just not the same for me anymore without them.

EDIT: i just saw a tumbler from midwest shooting supply for 25 bux. it might be crap and if it is, its just 25 bux.

but just think, if you pay 25 bones for a tumbler and it works for years you will be the talk of the town.

just sign up for the
"tool of the month club"! you will find you 'need' something often! on your first loads, watch how you set up the crimp. the first 4 or 5 i loaded wrinkled the case because i didnt have it set up right, and it took me a few to figure it out.

Okay got a Lyman tumbler (Turbo Twin).

That's the same one I bought. It's a good deal with the extra bowl set and Lyman backs their stuff. So far it's working good for me and isn't too noisey. The only thing I found out quick is that it tends to walk a bit on smooth surfaces (like the concrete floor of my garage). Putting an old floor mat under it kept it in one place
