You can use Remington 7 1/2 primers which are the same strength as the CCI #41 and both are recommended for the .223 in a semi-auto rifle.
You can always upgrade to CCI450 Magnum small rifle primers too. I wouldn't try any others because none are as hard to ignite as the CCI small rifle primers you're now using from what I know...
My replacement list doe .223 semi-auto primers would be CCI450, CCI#41 or Remington 7 1/2 small rifle primers.
I have used Winchester small rifle in my ARs without issue.
If you switch from CCI 400 to CCI 450 or CCI #41, you should work up your loads again. CCI says to use magnum primer (CCI 450) load data with CCI #41 primers.
There are lots of opinions out there about primers. Except for snippets of information, the primer manufacturers aren't talking.
Went to Randal's guns and they had Plenty of CCI 400's in stock.... so 2000 more came home with me... had ta drive 6 miles farther.. you say ahh no biggy... its Currently 106deg and 27% humidity out..... Heading BACK into the pool soon
Cabelas did have them for $29.99, raised to $34.99 but no stock.. Randal's had em for $32.99.. ya i pay Tax but still only $.0362 each
