A friend of mine gave me a zip lock bag of 45 brass last week. Say 50 cases or so. I looked at it tonight. Guess what the head stamp was on 43 of the 50 cases?
Yeap AMERC! "My buddy!"
But at least he was thinking about me! Ha ha

I have 100 Amerc brass cases for my 38 Super, in order to get enough bullet tension I had to use my 9mm sizing die when I reloaded with these crappy cases. I will leave these at the range on my next outing, won't bother to pick them up:)

Come on guys give them chance.

They got a bad rap a while ago. They are trying. I found a few a while ago, They were dirty and lonely. I cleaned them up, checked them over and they looked fine. Loaded them up and they worked fine. They are trying to shed the bad reputation the internet gave them. Everyone deserves a second chance. They want to play with all the other names too ya know.:D

Heck Walkalong I thought I read you ran a test on some of them and had no problems?

I remember that, but was someone else.

They feel different in a sizer, like they are being crushed, but they aren't. It's the only brass I toss straight into the scrap bin when I find them.

My trouble with Amerc did not originate from internet, it came from first hand experience at the range. For me they seemed to be very hard to size and later difficult if not impossible to chamber. If I did get them to chamber, they fired ok. Then Deja vu. I gave up.
My favorite is R-P.

I think they were from Miami. Didn't they go out of business.?

Don't even know were the brass was used. Did they have loaded ammo??

Out of all the brass I have picked up I think I only found 5 pieces.

I have some 9mm that resize and load perfectly and some .45 acp not will not. Go figure.

This isnt nearly as unsettling as when a shooter next to me gave me two boxes of 357 brass. it was blackhills ammo in Remington 357 mag cases. 90% of them were split near the case head. A big let down considering that i've only managed to find ~1k 357 cases at the range in the past three years. I've casually picked up over 5k pieces of 45 in the last 1.5 years  that stuff is almost as common as the 9mm, 40 & 223 "gravel" that paves the shooting area at my range.

Reefinmike, split at the case head? Did you mean neck (mouth)? All I shoot is R-P and normally the split starts at the neck and gets longer with each reloading.

nope, they all had a small fracture down just above the rim. not on the case mouth. I would trash any piece of brass once it gets any kind of crack in it... or if guess you could trim it down and use it as a 38 case if you are really frugal. any junked brass gets live primers knocked out and destroyed with a pair of cutters before being thrown in the scrap bin.
