American Made vs American Owned

Yup. I drive a Chevy that was made in Canada.

My wife drives a Japanese car (Honda) that was assembled in Alabama from components made in South Korea using raw materials from China. But that's cool, because Honda is a public company traded on the Tokyo stock exchange whose six biggest shareholders are all American institutional investors. Guess who's #7: the Chinese government.

I tend to buy what I consider to be better quality versus Country of origin. There is no question that I would prefer to buy products made in the USA, but they have to be offered at the same quality level. The "brand name" does tend to mean something.

American made vs. American owned? If you had to choose?

If the gun is made in America then they are probably using American labor. If the company is American owned, then the profits, if any, are enjoyed by the American shareholders of the company. Take your pick between supporting American jobs vs. investment income/capital gains for Americans.
