OK, I posted this in another forum but I didn't get a response so I'm going to post here. Also, go easy on me it's my first post on THR.

I work in a gun shop and I consider myself reasonably familiar with European proof marks (German ones in particular).
I saw something today that took me by surprise. I know you're all aware that while the C.I.P. (Europe's SAAMI) member nations are required by law to proof and stamp their guns most American manufacturers don't proof stamp their guns but proof test anyways.
So I saw a proof stamp on the barrel of a Ruger SR9 today - it looks like a backwards P combined with an R. I was thinking maybe it stood for "Ruger Proof" or "Remington" (sometimes they stamp R P on the head case of their cartridges)

Does anybody have any clue about American Proof Marks?
