Ammo stolen off of porch!

Just trying to vent in a peaceful manner. Ordered a 250 case shotshells that was delivered today. Get home, nothing. Checked all around, delivery confirmation shows delivered. I sent the vendor an email to see what can be done.

Having someone at the house all day isn't possible, and I've never had a problem the years that I have lived here. I just hate the feeling of having something stolen from me on my own property. I guess I will have to have it dropped at a hub and pick up from now on. What a pain.

That's what I was figuring. My neighbor runs some kind of bootleg day care out of their house. Plenty of people in and out right when the package is said to be delivered.

I am currently a student but once I graduate I am moving out of the urban/suburban areas for good. I lose a little faith in society everyday now it seems.

I’ve had the same problem. Not ammunition, but just bullets for reloading. I think some of it disappears because the sender has a firearms related name in the return address. Makes it an attractive target for the many hands along the way not to mention anyone passing by.

Watch the news. People all over have people who come and steal packages.




One lady had all of the packages for years and never even opened them. Just stole them.

Check with your neighbors to see if any of them have cameras set up. Hopefully someone got a clear picture of the perp or the car.
Have you contacted the shipping company or the police?

I once had UPS "deliver" a package to my porch that went missing.
Looking at my surveillance cam recordings I saw the UPS truck stop in front of my house- but the driver never got out, never came on my porch. Truck sat there 5 minutes then left- online tracking showed "left on porch" at the same time.

I installed a 4 camera system right after I found a Bluetooth earpiece beside my boat. We live in a rural area and ship and receive weekly. I have packages left on the porch once in a great while. The cameras give us a little more security, but I still carry about 75% of the time. Even at home.

As mentioned, tis the season. The only option is to have packages held at the hub or distribution center for pick up. While a pain at least you get your stuff.

This is what I do now. I started after i got my CMP Garand. The CMP warns that an adult signature is required, and I didn't want to wait so I took the day off to wait for it. I was in the house all day.

I went out around 2 to get the mail, and guess what UPS left on the porch in plain sight - a huge box with a Garand in it. It had "Signature required" in big red text in several places. Not only did he not get my signature, he didn't even knock or ring the bell.

So now I just hold 'em at the depot and pick them up on the way home. UPS is making it easy to catch packages, since they email you when a package is enroute to your house if you give them your email.

It may be as simple as they delivered to the wrong address. I had a delivery confirmation on some springs from Northern tools not long ago. Got delivered across the street. Had one from Midway with an online delivery confirmation. Nothing. Gave them to the next day, and viola, it showed up.

Thieves follow the ups and FedEx trucks and steal packages regularly. We have lost many items. The mail isn't much better. About 3/4 of our magazines make it to the house. Book club books are at about 1/2. When I lived in an apartment, the mail was much worse. Packages were good though. Ups and FedEx would only leave packages at the apartment complex office.

if you have a smart phone use the UPS app to setup a free acct using it then check the delivery option to be "leave at rear door" thats what I did a yr or two ago and its worked out great. Same thing with FedEx app....

^this is a good place to start. With ups hiring seasonal help and the huge volume of packages there is a good chance it's at a neighbors possibly.

Has happened to me a few times. Used to have a neighbor that wouldn't tell me. Would just sit and wait until I came over and then would reluctantly hand it over. My other neighbor is a great fella and would see me pull in and come over with it. Anyways worth the visit to the neighbors just in case......

Hope ya find it or get it sorted out right. It is sad that it could have been stolen. It's likely this is what happened....and the human species is often pretty good at constantly showing us its worst.

I'll walk around and ask today. The neighbors I would trust to bring it over probably would have by now.

I do 90% of my shopping online and I'd like to order a surveillance system from Amazon and install that; maybe even the cameras themselves would be a deterrent. How ironic would it be if that box walked away?

Maybe I could install some sort of lockbox for them to drop it in and close the lock. Probably putting too much faith in delivery system/person.

It could be that this was a one time event and I could have packages safely delivered from here on out but its hard to replace the sense of security.

Its nice to have a regular driver, I have done something similar in the past.

I dont think I have a regular driver. Its a long walk from my driveway to the door, and its not uncommon for packages to be left on, under, or around one of my cars. I have no problem with that, but the delivery location always says "front door" so I have to hunt for it.

Sure must be nice to live where you can trust folks to leave your truck door unlocked. Round here I'd come back to an empty truck.

I just read a local story the other day of some guy facing four or five felony charges for stealing packages from doorsteps. So it does happen, but I would not immediately jump to that conclusion.

A few month back I had a USPS package disappear. It was an Opinel #7. Tracking information said it had been delivered. To my LOCKED box at the end of my street. Nothing. A day or two later I went to the PostOffice to ask about it. They told me that without insurance on the package there is nothing they can do once it is "delivered." Bummer.

In another day or two the little box was sitting between my two front doors. I am not entirely sure how it got there, but I assume it got put into a neighbor's box and he/she then dropped it off here.

In the mean time I had ordered another #7. Now I have two!
