Has anyone used ampco nipples? What did you think of them? I have Slixshot nipples on my ’51 navy. How do they compare?

I have had both. Slix helped my cap jams become non existent. Ampcos seemed to make it worse.
Now all of my revolvers wear slix... In fact I just ordered some slix yesterday for my new revolver I recently ordered.

I'd say try them out of you want to.

Worse comes to worse your down 25$ brother.

I have AMPCOs on several Euroarns, ASM, and early Ubertis. They are very good especially on these guns that have sizes that are hard to find.
All of my open tops have cap posts, so cap jams are not an issue. AMPCO says #11 caps but #10 Rems fit perfect and so do CCI #11s.

I prefer Ampco for cowboy action competition. Slix-Shot nipples increased cap fragmentation and I got more jams from them. It’s fine with me if the spent cap remains on the nipple; I can pick it off after the stage is over. Ampcos and Remington #10 caps are common among competitors.

Its the opposite for me. Slix keep the caps on the nipple for me.... Different strokes I guess!

They’re very nice. The smaller flash hole helps to limit fragmentation of the caps.

But I personally have adopted Slix Shots as the vented cones accomplish the same thing, yet they fit my caps a bit better.

Both are solid nipples.

I have used a Hot Shot on a rifle which I think is the same thing as a Slix Shot. I didn't like it. I have heard a lot of good things about Ampco(Treso) nipples. I would try them before I'd try Slix Shot.
