As many of you know, the so called "Assault Weapons Ban" will sunset in Sept 2004.
There is a group of us that have already geared up to fight a renewal. www.awbansunset.com
Our tactics are to write letters every couple of months, contact National Party Chairs etc.
One other thing we are trying to do is to have people at gun shows with a booth that allows discussion of the ban with attendees at the gunshow. We have one promoter, Claude Hall, that has pledged FREE table\booth space for our effort. I expect more and more promoters will get on board and make the same offer.
The problem is: we don't have enough people willing to participate in the effort. If 8 people in each city would participate, they would only have to spend 2 hours each at the table. Then they would be free to browse the vendors. It will probably mean free admission to the gun show.
The idea is to discuss it with people, make them aware of the effort and what they can do. Discuss what the ban does, and does not do etc. Those on the net can be pointed to our website. Those not on the net can be provided 2 or 3 phone numbers to call to find their politicians contact info.

If you are willing to assist, you can register to that forum and post what days and cities you can attend, or email me at [email protected] with the cities you are willing to attend. I will find the dates for shows in that city and respond, or start a thread for that city.
The forum allows interested people to see cities and dates where help is needed and cities that are covered. That will help prevent 10 volunteers showing up Saturday, and 0 showing up Sunday.
If you are willing to help, please let us know. We need help.
We can achieve the sunset of this ridiculous law, but we cannot just sit on our hands and expect it to go away without a fight.
Our opposition has already started their efforts.
Gun owners stood idly by in 1994 and allowed this law to pass by 1 vote. If we want it, we will have to fight for it.
