Thank you to everyone who recommended the rosewood grips from Thailand!

You can get some beautiful grips from Thailand for a decent price. I have a set on my King Cobra. The only problem is the month long wait to get them.

Thanks for the kind words. They are on eBay and reasonably priced, but it did take about three weeks for them to arrive. Rosewood grips are becoming my fav, too. This is my third handgun to have them. They look nice on the blued 44, but even better on the nickel 22 and the 357 in the picture.

I am old and forgetful and don't want to wake my sweetie by double-checking, but I am pretty sure that the stainless 4" Taurus is a model 66. I lost an excellent model 66 when I was burglarized some years back, but found this one used for a good price and it has been just as good. I'm 99% sure it's the same model.

Thanks, Tallball. When you get a chance...>

...have another look at the Taurus. You just might find it's a 689 :)

The 66s don't have the vent rib.

Here's my 689, with the rubber Taurus grips it came with. I've been thinking of changing them and your post got me looking into some Thailand options.

Thanks.

I went to ebay, typed in "Rosewood grips Thailand" and got 69 results. Personally I don't mind the wait and have bought several sets of them for my pistols. I like surprises and am usually surprised when I find them in the mailbox after waiting a bit. :D

Yeah, it must be a 689. It looks just like yours. I'll double check next time I have the safe open. My model 66 didn't have the vented rib. It was blued with wooden grips.

They are on eBay. Search something like "new wood grips" and maybe the make, like "ruger" and maybe even add "thailand". The shipping is slow, but it's free.

Yep - I have a set of combats for my S&W model 28, a set for my CZ75 and have ordered for my Hi-Power. I have always been pleased with the Thailand grips. Love the reddish hue against the blue.

S&W 66 no dash 2.5" with Thai grips. They are made with a flair to them like the old coke-bottle magnas, fatter than the old banana round-butt grips, and that fits my hand really well. This set they got the pale heartwood to run right in where the fingers grip the frontstrap. I thought it looked unique.
