An extra press

I have a 550b and would love to add a single stage to the bench for prepping rifle brass. That way I could process the rifle brass a little at a time, any time, and have it ready to go when it's turn comes up.

EVERYONE should have a good solid single stage and your wife bought you a really good one.

I hate loading big rifle on a progressive.

So, my question is this--Do you guys that have both a progressive AND a single ever find a use with your single stage presses (enough so to justify keeping both)?? If so, what kind of things would you do with the single?

Absolutely !!

Progressives are nearly useless for rifle reloading. I suggest you protect your wife's delicate feelings.... and go buy a new rifle !!!

:D

I have a Lee Loadmonster and 2 Lee Reloaders. I use the Reloaders most of the time. Nothing wrong with the Loadmonster, just have lots of time on my hands.

WELCOME TO THR!!!!

All the previous posts are good, but how can we help you best, unless we know what cartridges you will load???????

Please let us know what you will be loading.

I have 2 single stage presses, and the 550, and the LNL AP. Until recently, I only loaded pistol and previosly single stage sized 222, 223, 22-250, and 6mmRem cases on the LNL. When using ball powders, I load them all progressively. When using extruded (stick) powders, I weigh each powder charge after the powder drop.

Absolutely !!
I agree

Progressives are nearly useless for rifle reloading.
No reason in the world not to load .223, .308 etc. on an LNL or Pro 2000, IMHO. (Probably a Dillon as well. I am just not familiar with their measures) Stick or ball, doesn't matter, as long as you are using a quality measure. Unless you are loading for really long range stuff, there is no need to weigh every charge.

I use my Rockchucker to size and deprime my rifle brass. I then trim/chamfer/deburr. Then load on my LnL. There is always something the single stage is best for.

I have 3 single stage presses, 3 progressives and 1 turret. If I had to choose one press, it would be a single stage. period.

My friend, you now have the best of both worlds.

Welcome to THR...
