I've got a Yugo 59/66 that I love, but I'm getting tired of my rifle canting when I sling up, due to the sling attachment being on the gas switch. I don't think that there's anyplace to attach a forward sling swivel on the stock, so I'm using this as an opportunity to spend some sheckles. What aftermarket stock should I consider that ihas a forward sling swivel, or can be fitted with one? I like the idea of a sporting stock but am concerned that the monte carlo style combs will put my eye too high for the iron sights. Anyone have experience with the choices out there?

Thanks

Do you mean that it attaches to the knob for the gas port? I've never seen a sling on a Yugo before, I'm curious. Maybe you could put the gas port on grenade launcher mode, which puts the knob straight up and down. Though this doesn't help with the whole new stock thing, maybe it might fix what you're after.

Eviscerator -

The sling mount on a Yugo is machined into the gas block just like other SKSs. The cant OP is referring to is because the mount is on the left side of the rifle.

I've got a Monte Carlo-style stock on a Russian SKS that has sling mounts on the bottom front and back. It doesn't have the raised comb. Don't know the manufacturer off hand, it was on the gun when I got it.

Are you dropping the rifle in front of you or behind you? I'm guessing in front since behind you the cant wouldn't really be noticeable.

Jackal, I assume you mean the T-6. I've been eying that one.

Monsternav, I'm using a hasty sling from field positions and find that I'm having to muscle the rifle to a level position.
