If anyone would have told me two years ago that we could have nominal 50-50 opinion splits on this issue, I would have said you were nuts--i.e., public polls would run at least 80% against.
Maybe the general public is starting to understand that "school shootings" are SHTF scenarios, and that the only effective response is an immediate stoppage for the shooter(s).
Last year, after the Red Lake school shootings here in MN, I saw antigunners on the MPR News Forum drop their knee-jerk reactions a bit--one actually seemed to get the idea of immediate and lethal response, and some others didn't immediately start bleating. That was, in my eyes, a landmark occurance. Maybe attitudes can continue to change.
