Snake, yet again a definite keeper. A very nice revolver.

I never encounter as many nice older guns as you seem to. I do believe you should buy lottery tickets once in a while. Perhaps you’ll fare well in that also.

It doesn’t look like Target Gray to me. Besides the first iterations of the .454 and .480 SRHs, I don’t believe any other revolvers were offered by Ruger in Target Gray (which received mixed reviews and was incidental to the tumbling process Ruger used). Looks like a matte stainless finish. Nice revolver!
^Yeah the finish looks kinda like my SRH in 480 Ruger, so it might be a Target Grey finish since it's a distributor exclusive GP-100(Wiley Clapp) there MaxP.

Target Gray is much darker and Ruger met with mixed opinions about it years ago. The biggest issue was that once it wore off In spots there was no way of reapplying the finish. There are two photos in this thread of SRHs in Target Gray and you can clearly see it’s not the same.

Here are a couple more pictures of target gray on my .454, this on a white shop towel:

The target gray is a smooth finish, almost like powder coating, Snake’s new beauty looks like it may have a rougher finish like bead-blasting.

A real sweet GP there, Snake.

Stay safe.

It's the same bead blasted matte finish Ruger does on the Hawkeye rifles and other guns. Or maybe actually aluminum oxide, which is more aggressive, rather than glass beads. Either way, it's not target gray.

Ruger did a 4" GP in target gray for Lipsey's years ago. That ain't it.
