Seems kind of high to me. Around here you could get into a non cracked one for about 350. 400 with a newer scope.
A crack like that is an easy repair though.

For $275 I would jump on that. It would be a minor project to dump the cracked stock, get a polymer one. Bed it and mount it. Zero it with a couple kinds of loads and go hunting. Rem 700s are easy and cheap to find stocks for. Probably wouldn't change the scope out either.

The stock would end up in the fireplace even if it could be repaired. I can't stand the reverse stamped checkering. The trigger needs replacement, the scope and mounts would have to go. That leaves $275 in the barreled action. I'd have $600 in it not counting optics or mounts with no idea how well a nearly 50 year old rifle was going to shoot.

I'd probably just replace the stock with a factory take off, and the scope with a decent 3-9, then use it till someone was willing to give me more than I spent.

Oooor, more likely, I'd probably strip it down to a bare action, rebarrel in something more interesting, and restock in a nice factory take off.

either way I'd replace the trigger with an xmark pro, and if I decided to keep it a triggertech primary.
