Well I think I made off like a bandit today at my local gun shop! This summer I picked up an almost correct Inland M1 Carbine and I've been itching to add another one to the collection. I was really hoping not to spend any more money on guns for a while but I just couldn't pass up the chance to buy this gun.

It's an almost entirely correct Underwood M1 Carbine and price...$650!!!

The gun is gorgeous and in spectacular condition with an incredible bore. All of the parts are marked Underwood with the exception of the bolt which is marked Winchester. It came with two mags one of them Underwood and the other marked BW.

After completely disassembling the rifle I discovered that there are only two parts that aren't marked Underwood, the bolt and rear sight. The serial number indicates the rifle was made between March and May 1944. There is a very nice and sharp Underwood cartouche on the side of the stock "G.H.D over U.E.F inside a box with some crossed cannons on the side.

Stock: "P-U"
Handguard: ".U."
Receiver: Underwood
Barrel: Underwood 4-44
Front sight: "EU"
Bolt: "W" Winchester
Rear sight: "S" Saginaw
Hammer: ".U."
Sear: ".U."
Trigger: ".U."
Trigger housing: ".U."
Recoil plate: ".U."
Mag release: "AU"

Well the deal just got a little bit sweeter today!

I was bored so I stopped by the gun shop where I bought this carbine and as soon as I walked in the clerk who sold me the gun called me over. He said that he forgot to give me a few items the day he sold me the gun. It turns out the gun also came with two 5 round mags, a sling and oiler and old Apache 825 soft case. While none of this adds much if anything to the overall value of the gun it was nice to find out that I got a little more out of the deal.

Hello friends and neighbors /// :D I can't help but smile for you.

Sounds like you hit the jackpot, with the extras to boot.

Still looking for my M1 deal and I'm not too picky, just over the top around here. Living 30 miles outside the big city it is hard to get too good a deal, a lot of folks are looking.

Nice looking carbine....and great price too!

Can you post some close up pics?? Not sure if it's the lighting or what but it "looks" like it's had a fresh park job. Not a big deal but may not be the original finish...JFYI... :)

When I first picked up the rifle and looked at it I thought the same thing, that it had been re-parkerized at some point. I'm still a little undecided, the finish looks scratched up and worn enough to be original but if it is original then it is very well preserved. I'm not enough of an expert on Underwood M1 Carbines to tell the difference between a re-parkerized finish or an original finish that is just well preserved.

Here are some close-up pics. I tried to get the lighting and color as natural as possible.

How about some closeups of the rear sight, both sides. Also the front sight and barrel band...trigger housing...or anything else you can!

I'm thinking repark....look at the difference in the recoil plate vs the rec itself....

BUT it may be original....not sure yet...
let me clarify..either way its a GREAT price if it has been reparked OR its an AWESOME price if its NOT. :D
