Heard on the radio this am about an off-duty cop shooting and killing a man at a NY bar. The person interviewed (apparently someone with political ties in the community) was outraged at why an OD cop was "down here" in a bar with a gun. On the heels of the Sean Bell shooting, and other similiar situations, what impact, if any, do you think this will have on the...'people vs. the state' with regards to "arms"?
I ask because in the guy's tone you can hear the anger at being subject to the guns/power of the police - "again", a bit like "we are not willingly going to take it anymore". I wouldn't find it hard to imagine he/they wished they had the rights of self-defense the 2nd protects, and would start actively taken exception to the idea that "only the police should have guns".
NOTE: I can not yet find details of the case on line, so I don't want to judge the incident on it merits, just possible results.
