Heard on the radio this am about an off-duty cop shooting and killing a man at a NY bar. The person interviewed (apparently someone with political ties in the community) was outraged at why an OD cop was "down here" in a bar with a gun. On the heels of the Sean Bell shooting, and other similiar situations, what impact, if any, do you think this will have on the...'people vs. the state' with regards to "arms"?

I ask because in the guy's tone you can hear the anger at being subject to the guns/power of the police - "again", a bit like "we are not willingly going to take it anymore". I wouldn't find it hard to imagine he/they wished they had the rights of self-defense the 2nd protects, and would start actively taken exception to the idea that "only the police should have guns".

NOTE: I can not yet find details of the case on line, so I don't want to judge the incident on it merits, just possible results.

my brother was a NY cop

he and his co workers can not imagine NY where regular citizens carry guns.
He tells me different to keep the peace but he is rooting for Rudy.

my dad was a ny cop(lifer).. he said in a place like ny if everyone had guns there would be total chaos for a month, then everyone would be real polite:D

Maybe it's time the cops started turning their guns and badges in along with the patroll car keys when they're off duty.

It's amazing how much different people are outside of NYC. I lived there for 24 years and even South Jersey had nicer people. If an armed society is a polite society...

I agree with Sanson1.

They don't like us Yokels and we want them to stay where they are.
Seriously, I deal with NYC'ers every week and have never liked one.
