There is not really a story, but I killed a really nice boar a couple of hours ago. I went out to hunt a group of pigs I have been seeing on my game camera and walked in on this 250 pound boar that I have never seen before. I shot him in the neck at about 100 yards with my Encore 9.3x74r with a handloaded 270 gr Speer bullet, and he was dead before he hit the ground.
This isn't the biggest boar I have killed, but he did have the best set of tusks.

Good job, dude. Just another 3 million to go!

I am going out in about a half hour.

Put those pics on Flint's sticky.

I have been able to get 4 shots into one hole at 100 yards and hit 16" gongs out to 500 yards with my handloads.

RM, you know they have steel pig at 550 yds. out at the rifle club? (Angelina).

My brother and I were busting it at various distances a couple of weekends ago.

Stands are set up at 100, 200, 300 and 550 yds. (they skip 400).

We need to get together when it gets cool and go out there.

Again, nice pig!

I was shooting with some friends at Big Rock Gun Club between Athens and Canton when I shot the gongs, but no, I didn't know Angelina had any steel set up except on the 22 range. When my Dad was a member back in the early 80's, the range had steel sihouettes out to 500 yards, but I don't recall any since I have been a member.

I have been doing a lot of handgun shooting, and I wish our range had a plate rack. That is FUN!

PM me sometime, and we can go shoot. During the week would probably be better for me. I am supposed to be in Oklahoma next weekend to scout and the next weekend for the first weekend of archery season and am planning to go back the third weekend for muzzleloader season.

Retrieverman, what's the barrel length on your pictured Encore? That looks nice and compact!
