well after all the thinking, talking and asking questions here and elsewhere, and about 2 months on layaway. i was finally able to bring home my new SA today.

brough her home field stripped, cleaned and lubed her, gonna TRY and get to the range tomorrow and start the break in and see how it does.

took some pics while i had it on the table after being cleaned, didn't turn out too well, (plus i don't know how to post pics anyway) guess i'll have to try some shots of it out of doors to see if that makes any difference.

have to say so far i am a very contented person (least till i get the NEXT "gun bug bite")

Congrat's on your purchase of a Springfield WWII
MIL SPEC! I know you're gonna like it. Now,
for a very nice set of custom, hand made grips for
it see the thread entitled "New Grips For My GSR"!

THR's very own silent one has done and out
standing job making several sets of 1911 style
grips out of "bloodwood"! They are beautifully done
and fit 1911 style self-loaders, including the Norinco!
Many thanks for looking, and you may contact him
by PM for further details~

A Springfield Armory .45 was on my list for a mil-spec 1911 for a long time. when I got serious about getting one, the only ones I could find were green , and had absolutely no play. I like some shake as JMB designed them that way, and OD was OUT!

So far, my Auto-Ordnance is doing great (200 rd ball), but I want to find a GI short trigger to install.

I just got a Stainless WWII GI, and its a beauty.

Springfield is giving these guns away at their price point, I only paid $429 for mine and thats a lot of gun for the money. Mine is very accurate and well finished.

Im this close to selling my squirrel gun and getting one.it would have to be stainless steel too.I need a good 45..this would scratch that itch nicly.

OK, took her to teh range today...

still smiling, though i AM going "well THAT'S proof of what 5 years without a REAL pistol can do to you!!" my arms adn hands got tired WAY to fast and as will be discussed my form is probably in MAJOR need of help.

gun seems to shoot low and left, but in all likelihood it's more a case of I shoot low and left with this gun. only got about 50% of the shots (about 75 rounds total fired today, aproximately half my current small stash of .45 ammo) on paper. again i think this was mainly ME and not the gun, time and exercise  will tell. lol

looks like it needs the extractor tuned or better yet replaced, it's suffering the same basic symptoms as the example Tuner has been playing with (dinged case mouths, throwing brass all over creation instead of a in a consistent direction, etc) so I'm fiarly sure i'm just going to get another extractor in the near future. though i don't plan to do ANYTHING non-vital to it till after i get at least another 350-500 rounds through it.

must sleep now, have early morning.....

Ditto on grips made by silent one. I have a pair of bloodwood grips made by him that are just beautifull. he makes each pair by hand and it takes about a week to make.
