I just read the thread about moving guns to Texas. My sister and brother in law live in League City, and have asked me several times to move there when I retire in a few years.
Are there any good ranges or clubs in the League City area ? I shoot mostly handguns, and mostly just practice, not competition, but I do have a couple of old S & W target revolvers to give some auto shooters a hard time with.
I also would like info about carrying in Texas- I have had a PA CC license for about 8 years.

I'm sure there are lots of places to hunt in South Texas, too...

My other family members in Texas are not gun peop[le, so they don't know this stuff.

Thanks.

Mark (Call me Tex)

For concealed carry info, go to Texas DPS web site and look up concealed carry. The requirments may be a little more involved than PA, but it works well here. Others will help with other questions. Yes, the hunting in S Texas is excellant, but getting real expensive these days.

If you drive from League City to Kemah, and then drive south to Texas City you will pass a firearms range on the right side of the highway, just over the levy. Only a few minutes away.

I used to do work for NASA and that's where some of the guys went shooting.

Come on down. Hunting for deer, duck, geese, turkey, dove, quail, buffaloe, wild cattle, hogs, fishing in both salt and fresh water. Lots to do!!:D

Come on down, you'll love the gun laws here. :)

And if you don't have a good hunting rifle, better get to searching.

I live in League City. There's only one range, A&R Gun Range. It's on Tuscan Lakes Blvd., also known as FM1266. It's outdoor only, and is $7/person with a little extra if you bring more than one gun. There are certainly nicer and friendlier places in the Clear Lake area (PSC and Marksman Shooters come to mind) but there's something to be said for having the range be a mile from your house.

If you do move here, I strongly suggest you swing by the Pasadena gun show, which is held at the Pasadena Convention Center all the time. You'll find a lot of booths offering info on their CHL classes, and you'll surely find one you like. I did.

Hope this helps, and welcome to Texas...

- Ray
