Just glanced at the official UPS online info. This would be from west TN to AZ, obviously not from or to any authoritarian states.

Must a rifle (from me) ship from an FFL in my area, in order to go via UPS and be accepted by Arizona Response Systems in AZ, which is owned by the top;) "FAL doctor"?

The question is Not about ammo (none would be shipped), or the type of container. That's in the UPS info, but they indicate that an FFL etc is now required.

---Does Fedex accept properly-packaged rifles at their appropriate offices?

Somewhere during the last few weeks I had seen discussions about it, but didn't remember the contexts.

And so this requires the typical charge for an FFL transfer:scrutiny:, in Addition to the actual UPS or Fedex shipping?

I certainly can pay it, just curious.

Used to be you could ship to a manufacturer for repair, but the firearm had to come back to an FFL. I haven’t had to ship anything in last few years, so not sure you can even do that anymore.

This says its still that way.

April 27, 2018 - S&W sent me a shipping label to return my M29-2 for repair. I packaged the gun and took it to a FedEx shipper, not FedEx. Told them its a revolver , as required.

S&W returned my gun to me, by FedEx, at my house. Done. I am NOT an FFL holder.

The gun store I use in Cordova TN charges about $60 for a typical Transfer (retail purchase). I'm 68, not a virgin with FFLs.

:scrutiny:Can a gun repair business/gun smith shop, Still ship a rifle (--just a rifle--) directly to your home-or did that Also change? This was still legal about a year ago, which naturally might have no meaning in August/Sept 2023.

I dont know. Maybe if your the owner of the firearm? The repair business/gun smith shop your dealing with will know.

The laws are always changing. Its 1 reason i turned in my FFL in 1994, and retired.

Currently, UPS & FedEx have set the shipping rules, not the ATF.

Yes, I own the FAL rifle which needs a minor repair.

Were I not the gun’s owner this topic would not have been
created (by me).

A repair shop was allowed to ship my SKS directly to my house about seven years ago, only because it was a repair facility.

3, count 'em, 3 Ruger LCPs sent from home but retrieved at an FFL Ruger dealer (bty, I no longer own any LCP pistols).

The absolutely best way to know for sure would be to call the repair facility.

I ship a Guerinni Invictus back for a checkup every year/2 years. I keep the brown shipping box tucked away and just slip the case in there and head for UPS. I call UPS first and let them know I coming w/ a firearm. Doesn't seem to bother them much. I've been told the shipping system is so safe that most don't bother w/ insurance. I insure for full value anyway. Comes back to my local FFL.

I've a CZ 527 that needs repair called UPS asked several question about shipping the rifle and as of now I'm waiting for a RMA that seems to satisfy UPS. No local dealers will send the rifle and the nearest that will is in Maine where I bought the rifle 120 miles up and back from my home . I'll let everyone know how I male out.

Got my RMA today with a QR code so I'll box up the rifle
and bring it to a FedEx hub to ship on Tuesday. CZ has an agreement with FedEx for shipping firearms.

Brought the rifle to FedEx they printed a shipping label from the QR code. The only other thing I had to do was put the RMA on the box was in and out in 5 min. If you have to ship a firearm back to the manufacturer call and ask for a prepaid shipping label that should make life a bit easier.

Beretta sent UPS to my home with label in hand to pick up my handgun. The driver put the label on the box. I asked the driver if I should tell him that it was a gun. His answer was NO, He didn't need to know that. One week later to the day the same UPS driver handed my gun back to me, " repaired by Beretta". He said, " got your gun back", and I had to sign for it. And, That was That.
