Opinions wanted:

I have the chance to pick up a Anschutz 1574 Sporter in 243win. It has no import stamps (not even Savage) and looks nearly unfired. I have heard many glowing things about Anschutz 22's but, know nothing about their centerfire rifles. Please give me opinions. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Vlad

Vlad,

I have a left handed Anschütz 1730 chambered in 22 Hornet. As factory rifles go, this one is truly well made. This particular rifle is substantially less "fussy" about what ammunition it shoots accurately than typical factory made rifles in this chambering-

Whoever ground the chamber reamer and the workmen who built this rifle did the job correctly. I have far less problems with case growth than I've experienced in any of the half dozen other rifles chambered for this cartridge that I've had over the years.

I have no experience with any of the 15XX series rifles.

I don't know what to tell you, except Krico rifles have a good reputation and there have been numerous U.S. importers over the years so somebody liked them in addition to Anschutz. John
