Anti-gun/Pro-gun Music?

I was thinking about this the other day...

Are there any famous songs (any genre, old or modern) that you consider to have an anti-gun message?

Are there any musicians, bands or songs that are or seem anti-gun to you and refuse to listen to?

Just curious, with all the talk about anti-gun actors and movies, I cant help but think there must be anti-gun attitudes in the music industry also.....

Edit/Update:
On the flip side if there is some pro-gun music you want to talk about feel free to. Let's not all list Ted Nugent, he's just a given;)

I'm sure there are examples, but musicians are a funny lot. I'm a musician and I regularly meet with musicians from all over the world. I think you'd be surprised at how many of us are gun owners/enthusiasts. Also, in the US It is difficult to be an ardent 1A supporter without also being an ardent 2A supporter.

remember M(oron)TV?

REM - Wore "Handgun Control" t-shirts at an MTV Music Awards show.

Henry Rollins - remember his stupid "Guns are Tools of the Weak" slogan?

I could go on but I think I'll crank up Rodney Atkins to purge these pinkos from my head.

The new album by the Eagles is pretty much anti America. I have not the ability to hear it real well, so I have to read the words:what:

Wal Mart is selling this, mentioned at one time they would not do it about anti America HHHHMMMM Must be making extra money to be able to look the other way, until the suit hits um.

Damn straight. They work for the slow folks too. That boy makes me nervous, what with all the pent up anger he spews all over the place.

Of course, since he likely considers himself one of "the strong," he probably feels superior to "the weak."

Aren't we talking about musicians?

Well, I was responding in reference to this particular line:

in the US It is difficult to be an ardent 1A supporter without also being an ardent 2A supporter.

Liberals and actors are always talking about freedom of speech, etc... They don't tend to be big fighters for the second amendment...

The Dream by DHT sounds anti to me. Mostly because of one line that goes, " No more guns, no more pain, no more hurt." I catch myself singing that song and replacing "guns" with what ever it was that pissed me off recently.

Okay, I don't think SNS is pro or anti gun. But given Skynyrds love of guns and hunting, I'm gonna say it was more satirical than anything else.

"Of course, only 1 out of 10 of us here remembers Southern Rock."

 just because i was born in 1984, doesn't mean i don't know the lyrics to sweet home alabama.

my beef with modern rock/pop and politics is they just can't write a protest song with the same greatness as those who came before. you just can't beat CCR with "bomb, bomb, bomb"
and the green day songs sound like they were written by a 5 year old.
R.E.M is the first that comes to mind. of course, the wearing of the handgun control shirt coincided with about the same time they became 'artiests' and stoped creating art.
as for henry rollins, dad remembers him when he was just a 17 year old wanna be punk running around in pleather pants with a telephone belt for a belt. (BTW my dad was a punk in the 70's era dc punk scene) how can you take seriously anything he says after knowing that?

One I USE to think was made as anti-gun propaganda was Weird Al's: Trigger Happy. However, seeing that: Canadian Idiot was made by the same person leads me to think that he is either neutral or supports gun rights and obviously, at least as far as intentions go, someone who believes in gun rights wouldn't be making propaganda that supports the opposite.

About 10 months ago, I found a video on youtube of some heavy metal group singing about the right to bear arms and the liberal media's attempt to take them away. Can't find them at the moment.

Tallpine beat me to it.

"Guns are Tools of the Weak"

I'll partly go along with that statement. Frail 80 year old in a wheelchair can actually defend herself. Heck, I've never had SD hand to hand combat training or been to the gym on a regular basis.

The Police - Invisible sun, and 10000 Maniacs (Natalie Merchant) - Gun shy come to mind. I'll probably think of some others after I post. There a a LOT of anti war songs that are essentially anti gun/anti military

Henry Rollins - remember his stupid "Guns are Tools of the Weak" slogan?

Weapons are an essential component of civilization Mr. Rollins...

Rollins is a fraud. I also remember him back during his Black Flag days. Then he decided that life was funner making movies and being loved by the so-called Mainstream.

He is a big old boy. Lots of gym time, but I'd like to see those biceps stop a 45 fired by a 150 lb "whimp". Which, of course, is why he dosen't like guns.

You know, if someone was feeling particularly evil, they'd suggest that everyone reading this, along with everyone they can persuade, look up Rollins' show, and send both the production company AND the network a nastygram all about how they're upset that he's anti-disabled people... He's a big hater.
