Even if they do, so what.
What are they gonna do, show up at my house and demand I give up my deer rifle?
Not likely.
Hell, they might even learn that we all aren't just a bunch of illiterate, racist rednecks.
Regular rednecks perhaps, but not illiterate or racist.:D

We welcome healthy debate and have even converted a few antis. Civil and wise discourse does more to promote this sport than screaming angry slogans (though I admit having tried giving others heart attacks).

OK! You guys better pick up the beer cans off the floor, take out the garbage and thow out that stack of old Penthouse magazines! Company is coming so we need to get this place cleaned up! :neener:

MeekandMild: those aren't Penthouse magazines. It's Rifle, Precision Shooter, Scientific American, Yale Law Review, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Hellenic Studies, Virginia History Quarterly and assorted respected and authoritative publications. Of course, you can also find lesser publications like GunList, Shotgun News, Dixe Gun Works Catalog around too along with an occasional Road & Track. We're a learned and civil crowd.

I found TFL through the MS. Magazine Boards. I used to hang out at Joe's 2nd Amendment Message Board, there was a link to some debate at Ms. and I saw abunch of people talking about TFL. I looked into it and eventually abandoned Joe.

That being said, I gave up on the MS. Boards some time back. It is pretty much pointless. Those boards are crawling with way left liberals who have no more intention of attending any type of NRA function than I intend on going to a "Support Davis" rally. The middle is where we need to win hearts and minds, the poles already have their minds made up. I know I do.

Gary, you forgot The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, Scientific American, and the Journal of Emergency Medicine.

Oh, and don't forget Home Power magazine, either. Glad I live in Texas where the sun shines and the wind blows.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Don't forget to organize the history books, and clean up the piles of "Foreign Affairs", "International Security", and "Political Science Quarterly" on the floor, and at least close the copies of "Machinery's Handbook" and the "CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics" on the coffee table so as not to be too blatant about what you are designing. Most important of all, dust the gunracks and clean up the reloading bench.

Remember, this is a clean board; while we may strongly disagree with each other, we don't toss in four-letter words, three to a sentence or make crude allegations to our parents heritage, personal grooming, or sexual prefrences, as they seem to do with moderator sactioning and great abandon.

Doesn't matter what you guys do or say.

To the people of DU, you are what is wrong with this country. Nothing will change that.

Response to 4V50:

I'm with you 100%, but I've got one question: with all the names in the world, why name a rifle, "Mannlicher"?

P.S. I'm not a troll although I look like one.

I have to add another so what. Those people are for the most part full of hate. They remind me of the pacifists that beat the hell out of those people in California over the recall issue.

I recall some time ago being over there reading a thread about how "they" were convinced that "we" were going to take over the country with our assault weapons, and how they would have to resist us.
Someone made the comment that they would be poorly armed and poorly trained (what a shocker, considering that they have been hiding from guns all these years). One guy made a comment that he would "show those freepers a thing or two."
First of all, what is a freeper?
Second, how is a guy who has never handled a gun before going to show a redneck who learned to shoot his dad's 30-30 at age 7 anything in a gunfight?
That would be suicide.
Following the logic of that thread, one would think that some of the more conservative hating/fearing people on DU would take an interest in arming themselves for this upcoming fight that exists only in their minds.
This is not to say that I wouldn't welcome a chance to discuss the finer points of our philosophies through these forums.
I can keep it civil if they can.
Like it or not, we all live here.
I ain't leaving and neither are they, so we have to get along.
The only way to do that is to reach an understanding.

Well if antis are going to lurk, this is the best place for it. I lurk at a lot of different gun boards and this one is much more civil and clean than the rest. Proud to be a member and I suspect so is Art's Grandma:D

A freeper is a member of www.freerepublic.com, which is a Republican version of DU. (I think.)

I too hope they learn something, and as I have mentioned before, if our kind were to take over the country against them, they would learn that a "Tianamen Square" approach wouldnt work.

The previous sentence was not meant to infer a desire to instigate violence against anyone or group of people, including the government. However, I would like to throw my personal monkey wrench into the cogs of government...

Responce to Hansolo

Do you know where "Mannlicher Rifles" are manufactured? Every time I see the name, I think of a place in Switzerland where Nancy and I try to go on each visit to that beautiful, gun-loving country. It's a beautiful cable-car ride up the "Mannlich". In that case, The Mannlich is a beautiful part wooded and part grassy mountain. In my...ahem... younger years, we even climbed to the very top of that mountain. (I've got the photos to PROVE it!) Very difficult for me with all my ailments, a little easier for Nancy, and EXTREMELY EASY for the two tiny white dogs that passed us up as they were playing. Have you any IDEA how it makes a fella feel when he's struggling up a mountain foot-path on all fours, and TWO TINY DOGS simply "dance" right by? I thought I was hallucinating from the pain! My heart almost exploded!

Sheesh,
KR

So the anti's are coming over for a visit ...

I might leave my "2000 Standard Catalog of Firearms" out on the coffee table but I think I'll stuff the Paladin Press mailers under the mattress ... :)

I'm with you 100%, but I've got one question: with all the names in the world, why name a rifle, "Mannlicher"?

...the same reason that there is a liquor store in Beaver Creek, CO named "Beaver Liqours".

...it is named after a location, the town of Mannlich.
