sidewalk edger 013.JPG sidewalk edger 013.JPG This pistol was brought home by my uncle who was an MP in WW-2. Shoots .22LR just fine and is in really good condition. I am just wondering about it's value and rarity. It has an 11 inch fluted barrel and nice engraving on the stocks. It has crown over B and crown over U markings as well as a double circle over G. Can the manufacturer be determined from this? Thanks.

Nope. The "BUG" stamps are standard German proof marks.
Stoeger imported them without naming a manufacturer.
$20 in 1939 for a similar but not identical hammer single.

Found a very similar example in my 1932 Stoeger catalog reprint. Except for only being offered with a 10" barrel. They are only listed as " Stoeger's Target Sidearms" with no mention of the manufacturer; just like the previously mentioned 1939 information. There was one identical model without the grooved barrel for $20. and same gun with grooved barrel just like the OP's for $22. . I don't imagine they had large sales numbers in the U.S. or I probably would have come across one by now. The old German .22 target pistols are all very good shooters from what I've heard but I don't have a clue as to what they are worth. A professional appraisal might be worth it just for your own peace of mind, even if it's only kept as a family heirloom and not for sale.
