Any American made or at least not Chinese made backpacks?

I need to replace my current bag that is starting to rip about about 3 years of heavy use. Inside will go water bottle, iPad, and often a extra pistol and various other gear. My bags have always been heavy loaded and I need something durable. I found this 511 bag and it’s about perfect. I just don’t like buying Chinese stuff. Any suggestions? I have looked on the internet and I really can’t find any USA made bags that fit this role.

Check London Bridge Tactical, Eagle Industries, and Kifaru. I'm sure there are others but those come to mind first. I'm carrying the same Eagle pack (close to what you're looking for I think) for 20yrs now after having several others fail on me.

Eagle did have a short lived off shore effort, but those are a bit hard to even find now.

I also avoid chinese stuff as much as possible.

Thank you very much. I just ordered the London Bridge tactical 14 Liter bag, I wish I could have inspected it in person but they got very good reviews. I love to buy American. Or at least from a free county.

OP,
Cool, hope it fits your needs and that you enjoy it.

They make great stuff, should last a lifetime, and if it doesn't I would think they will make it right.
The cheaper stuff, you can't fix, it just wears out over time.

I've been using this 5.11 range bag for over a year. I really like it and load it up heavily, and it looks like it will hold up for a long time. Unfortunately, it's imported (probably from China).

Is Vietnam ok? I appreciate Osprey for technical packs. I said technical, not tactical.

For non-technical, I have a Trakke. And you know, "If it's not made in Scotland..."

I've never paid any attention to where they are made, but I have packs made by Mystery Ranch, Gregory, and Osprey that are very good. I seriously doubt if they are made in either China or USA. There are some products that are simply not made here anymore.

Shoes for example, if you insist on USA made shoes you're limited to expensive custom-made footwear. Personally, I don't care as long as the quality is there and SOME products from China are good quality, SOME are junk. I've never seen any shoes/boots from China worth bring home, but the best hunting/hiking boots are made in Europe.

The "tactical" bags made a dozen or more pockets and covered with external webbing weigh more empty than I usually carry in my pack. I never use any of those features anyway. A quality pack designed for hiking with 1 main compartment and no more than 2-3 smaller compartments is what I prefer. Lots of good choices at REI, none at the shooting/hunting stores.

Its not always easy to buy US made gear, but possible if you take some time to look. May cost more at times but "saving" $$ isn't always a "savings" in the long run.

Last night I was wearing Danner boots, Diamond Gusset jeans, Carhart jacket, carrying a Surefire light as well as a Buck knife. All US made.

Some Carharts are imported now but I was able to order a US made one direct from them a few years ago, not sure about now.

If you want something durable for "heavy loaded" and USA made, how about military grade?

Fire Force Tactical Gear makes US military spec or better backpacks in the USA (Full Berry Compliant) with lifetime warranty - https://fireforceusa.com/info/guarantee.htm

Expedition II Pack measures 20" x 14" x 8" and comes in various camo patterns with ACU/ABU camo for $89 - https://www.fireforcetactical.com/expedition-ii-pack.html

If you must have black color, 3 Day Assault Pack comes with or without PALS webbing, measures 20"x14.5"x8", comes in various colors/camo patterns including black and priced down to $99 for ABU camo - https://www.fireforcetactical.com/3-day-molle-assault-pack.html

3 Day Assault Pack without PALS webbing but in limited camo pattern with price down to $99 for ABU camo - https://www.fireforcetactical.com/Fire-Force-Tactical-item-8001-the-3Day-Assault-Backpack_p_12.html

If you don't mind surplus, USMC Issue FILBE 3 Day Assault Pack measuring 20"x14'x8" sand color for $39-$99 and grade 2 for $59 - https://armynavyoutdoors.com/usmc-filbe-3-day-assault-pack-military-surplus/

But unlike full Berry Compliant backpacks that use USA sourced fabrics/materials, these may use "globally sourced" fabrics and materials but "assembled/made in USA".

I thought I would post on what I bought. The London Bridge trading . I bought it mainly as it is American made. It will get carried about 2 weeks a month and pride of ownership is important to me. It seems to be well made. Next to it was a Vietnam made “Drago”. I had it about 3-4 years and served me well. I needed something a little bigger.

I learned this in the Military, Inspect for any loose threads and take a lighter of match and melt them and that way it won't come un-stitched. I do this with everything I buy that is nylon or uses nylon thread and it works on every kind of thread, even cotton. Nice looking backpack, hope you will be happy with an American made pack.

I swear by my 5.11 cover 18 backpack. I don't have the 2.0, I have the original and it's absolutely excellent.

This is the best range pack I've ever seen. Been using it for a year, it's built like a tank. They are $150 on Amazon, but I don't know how to copy Amazon links.

There aren't any improvements I'd make to it, and country of origin is U.S.. They make a bigger model too.
