I've had a Bersa .380 for years, love it despite its limitations, but after I almost got carjacked (it saved my a$$) I decided to find something a little more, um, substantial in the caliber department. Within a month I had located a Bersa 45 Ultra-Compact, and I plunked down my shekels. 7 + 1 capacity, two mags included, decent ergonomics, good useable sights, and it's not much bigger than the .380, maybe 15% or so. I started carrying it daily after it was broken in, and the trigger gets better every time I shoot it, and it wasn't bad to begin with. The frame looks like polymer but it's not, and there is a groove on the front of the frame for a light if you want to mount one. I always carry a Surefire 9P, so I haven't gone that route yet.

But for whatever reason, this gun seems to be almost unheard-of outside of the few folks that own them. Bersaandgoodies.gif Bersa45.gif

I have yet to see the gun written up in any publication, and I've looked hard. The design is solid and accurate, the price is right, does anybody ever see these in the gunshops? If not, you might be missing out on a great CCW gun!

I don't have the .45, but I have three of their 9mms. All three have been perfectly reliable with over 1k through each. I carry one of my UCs as my CCW.
The triggers on my Bersas are the best of all my pistols except my 1911. The Bersas are a great underrated pistol.

My dad has the 9mm. I've shot it plenty. As a matter of fact, so has he. It's his first (and only) autoloader, so he was skittish about breaking it down to clean it.

So he never did.

He probably put more than 2000 rounds through it with no cleaning other than some oil on the front of the frame rails.

This went on for about 2 years.

It was still running (although sluggish) until last week, when I finally snatched the poor pistol out of this hands, disassembled it in front of him (he was flipping out like I couldn't get it back together) and gave it a thorough cleaning.

I think he thought it was harder to take down that it really is (just like any other auto, nothing special.)

But as far as the pistol goes, it'cs absolutely fantastic. I've popped balloons at 50 yards, which is as accurate as I could ever need it to be. 100% reliable, decent sights. Nice ergonomics, good weight balance, ambi safety.

However, it is a pretty sharp on the edges, so I don't know if it's built for ccw, and I don't much care for the combo safety / decocker. With my SIG, if I decock it, the hammer stops about 1/4" from the firning pin. I could push on it, drop it , slam it on the hammer, but I'm confident that the hammer won't meet the firing pin. The Bersa just doesn't leave me with that level of comfort... but that's me.

Bottom line is the Bersa is accurate, reliable, pretty good looking, and inexpensive.

Been considering a Bersa in both the .380 Thunder and the .45 version. While I am a 1911 Guy, I don't feel comfortable with a 3" super-ultra-micro 1911...action timing issues and ammo 'persnickety-ness'.

The guys I know that have Bersas really enjoy them.

I had the .45 Bersa, until it kept cracking hammers. I went to a Springfield Micro Parkerized immediantly after hammer #2. Thing got a little heavy after a while too (for me).
