I have a good friend in tough times. I feel bad, but he needs to sell his family heirloom US marked sword. I know for a fact he's had it 20 years, and has some letters from the soldier to home, etc. However, that doesn't mean it wasnt a fake in 1960..etc. Is there a knowledgeable civil war blade guy around that I can post pics and get some idea on what to offer this thing up? Thanks

Go to bladeforums.com and visit Bernard Levine's subforum which people post knives and swords for identification. Bernard is a knife expert, author and trial expert witness for edged implements. He can even give you a professional written appraisal if you are willing to pay.

Please read the guidelines first and post pictures of the sword since written words aren't enough to establish authenticity or value.
