I almost abandoned the idea of another bolt gun and went with an AR. But I figured I can get an AR anytime with the current market and I can grab one later this year. Have one picked out...nothing special. just a basic M&P sport II with a half dozen Pmags.

I'm planning a new bolt gun purchase for just target shooting to accompany my other bolt gun. I'm not looking to build a bench rest competition gun but a budget solid target gun (mostly 100yd) that may find some use in hunting varmint at shorter ranges ( 200yd max). Accuracy is important to near 1 moa "average". Average meaning 1.25"-1.5" bad day and .75" or less good day. 1 MOA average and I would be thrilled.

I Thought about an axis in .223 is a good place to start being that this will be a budget gun. Figured The Savage Axis II XP fit the bill for the action. I have a scope picked out and figured I would put a Laminate stock on it. Complete a bedding job, insure free float and done. Nothing special figured decent accuracy should be obtained with some good loads.

Anyhow I came across the AXIS II XP with the Hardwood Stock at a great price. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog...avage+AXIS+II+XP+223+Hardwood+Weaver+22in+4Rd

Problem is I know little about this stock and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them (the stock, not the model) at all? Even with fit? Any harder to bed (if you've done so)? Opinions?
