Any experience with the TAURUS Millenium Pro?

My wife wants her CCW and I couldn't be happier. I took her to look at a few handguns at Gander Mountain and of course she saw that pink Taurus. I don't have any experience with any Taurus.

Can anybody give me a review?
 
My brother has one in 45 that I have shot quite a bit and my only complaint is it suffers from occasional light primer strikes. It does have re-strike capability unlike most striker fired autos but it still bothers me. I keep telling him he needs to send it back to Taurus but so far he hasn't.
 
I've had zero problems over the last 3yrs with the Mil Pro PT-111, PT-145 and PT-745. I carry the PT-745 during the summer.
 
Do a lot of research on Taurus then come to your conclusions on whether you want your wife relying on one. There are many folks who have had no problems and absolutely love their MilPros. I on the other hand am one of many that lost all confidence in the firearm for personal protection.
There are many brands and makes out there the IMO are much better than Taurus. Also, do not let your wife be naive enough to buy a gun because it is pink.
 
I wouldn't let her get it unless I trusted it no matter what color it is. She wants a good weapon, but she also wants something different. Otherwise I'd get her a match to my XD40. I know those work.

I just wanted input from people who had actually shot it as there is no place to rent different guns out here.
 
I hear ya. My PT140MilPro was a decent gun until it started spitting the recoil assembly out. From then on, even though Taurus sent me a new one a couple times to get it right, I just couldn't trust it. I loved the grip and how well it carried, but couldn't get past my mental hang up.
Instead I bought a Glock and haven't looked back. It may be "ugly" or "one of a million that look the same" however the reputation and reliability is all I care about in my CCW firearms.
 
I've had a pt145 for about 2 years ,fired around 1500 rounds so far with absolutely no problems of any kind.So based on my personal experience with this pistol I would recommend it to anyone, but to each thier own . hope this helps
 
DO a search on Taurus Customer Service. THe consensus seems to be the ones that have never had to use it love there guns. THe ones that have had to have a gun repaired wont ever buy a Taurus again. Im the latter.
Any gun from any manufacturer can have problems. In the simplest and nicest way I can put it Taurus customer service is a joke.
 
I used to have a Taurus PT-145. It fed both FMJ and JHP just fine; I put about 200 rounds through mine before I traded it. As a less expensive alternative to the Glock 30, I liked it, but it wasn't special enough to catch my fancy.

I have a PT-140 Mil. pro. And PT-24/7 about 2 years old and not 1 problem. I will be looking at there PT-800 series soon. And with a life time warrantee if it should ever have a problem it's fixed free.:)

I had a PT-24/7 pro 45 that worked really great for the first 100-150 rounds and then went down hill from there. sent it back they told me it was mag problems and said they had solved it but after i got it back it was like they had never done anything to it. but everyone i have talked to who has a millinium pro says they love it. just hope you have better luck than I did with taurus
 
I've got a Taurus Mil-Pro 40 and I love it. Its surprisingly accurate at 20 yards for a compact pistol, mine has been 100% reliable through a whole lotta rounds, my reloads, and it fits my hand great. I really like it. Some people say the 40 is snappy in compact guns, with my mid-range loads with Ranier bullets, its not bad at all. Another plus, the DAO Mil-Pro's have big white dot sights, much larger than what's on my XD, very easy to see.:) I prefer the DAO version to the SA/DA version, I like the consistent trigger pull, which really smoothe's out after a few hundred rounds, by the way.
 
My wife has an early PT111 (pre-Mil/Mil pro), in the neighborhood of 1,000 rds thru it without a hick-up. She's looking for something new as she found her finger is rubbing the bottom of the trigger guard with extensive shooting (well that and she just wants something new.....lol), though I believe the new versions have slightly larger trigger guards.

I picked up a PT145, haven't put that many rounds thru it yet, but again not a hick-up to speak of. However, I can't stand the straight 8 sights that are on it (some people love them) and will likely be changing those over to fiber optic sights.
 
Or wait and get her one of the new PT-709 pistols...

I've got a PT111 Pro and PT145 Pro, and both have been flawless with 1300+ rounds each. Carry the .45 daily. I recommend them.;)

I'm also in the group that now avoids Taurus. I had a PT-140 Millennium Pro that was absolutely fantastic, but -all- of my other Taurus guns were very...erratic. I finally decided that I just didn't want to take the chance of having the PT-140 also get weird on me so it got sold as well.

When you get a good Taurus gun they are great, but it's such a hit-or-miss proposition that I can't recommend them for a carry/self defense weapon and would gently suggest that you look at XD or Glock.
 
I am probably leaning towards another XD. If I'm shelling out $400 I don't want to have to send my wife's carry pistol in to customer service for god knows how long.

Anybody seen any pink XDs?:)
 
I have Taurus Mill Pro .45.
My brother has Mill Pro 9mm.

They are EXCELLANT pistols. Since here in Pakistan they are cheaper than other brands, you get most out of your money from it.

I have the millinium pro 111 pink grip taurus, i have had only a short time, however, when i shot it the first time i didn't have any problems with it, as a beginner i have researched some other pistols, but i have to admit the color did attract me. At the store i bought it from the sales person, he did warn me not to get tricked up because looks can be decieving(color) and actually suggested a revolver, however, i did not want something to carry where it could actually go off in my purse or wherever i may have placed it. I had my mind made up and have put some rounds through it with no problem.
 
I have had the pt140 for about six months and it's a bit too snappy which interferes with the followup shot. The grip feels good. Size is small but I'm able to get all my fingers on it. Slide is a bit tough to work compared to my S&W M&P 40. I like the manual thumb safety but have learned not to use it - I don't keep it chambered.

So far, no problems but I've only had about 200 rounds through it.
 
Okay,were the guns PT22,PT111,or of PT138 extraction?

Some women like the colors more than the caliber. Others find the PT22 easy to fire, lack of recoil,easy to load and unload... and the colors. No slide to rack for loading because of the tip up barrel.

There are for some women that only will shoot a .22lrf revolver or pistol. That's all they want to deal with. Many others go for the centerfire guns with no problem.So this is about what she wants, is willing to master, and what she can handle. It's her pick.

Has she taken any one on one NRA basic accredited shooting classes or female only beginner one's?

Other possibilities are that maybe she should look at shooting a revolver.

Tailor the ammo to the person and the situation. In .38 Special there are the low powered practice 148gr. wadcutters,standard pressure JHPs in 110-125grains, or +P ammo. She might even one day consider trying out .357 magnum stuff.

I can bring forth the revolver links if need be. Just ask.
