Anyone using this cartridge for hunting or target shooting? I've heard it's light on the shoulder, very accurate and there are many bullet choices available for reloading. I'm thinking this might be my bullet choice for a target rifle instead of a 308. I don't typically shoot past 300 yards anyway but even that 1 time per year that I hit a 500 yard range, I'm guessing this cartridge would still be ok. If a .223 can shoot to 500 I'm sure the 260 can.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Should be ballistically similar to the 6.5x55, only in a short action. Never shot a 260, but I love my 6.5's.

Kind of a niche caliber

May be hard to find ammo at the local walmart.

Easy recoiling, accurate, awesome 6.5 mm bullets.
Should have been more popular, but only a few companies offer them in their lineup.

Ammo is not a problem, cuase I will reload these. I've read that this is also a great deer rifle to 300 yards, but I'll use it only for target shooting. I think DPMS also makes an AR in this caliber.

Anybody know if its possible to get a Ruger No.1V heavy barrel for 22-250 bored out for 260, and if so an estimate of what it might cost?

my uncle has one and he uses it for 600-1000 yards, he just rebarelled his old 1000yard 308 for 260 he likes it better, said it shoots a heck of a lot flatter
