I keep reading threads on this forum about Mossberg shotguns, Remington, Benellis etc... Does anyone here own any Franchi shotguns?

If so, can you share your opinion on the quality of this manufacturer and some pics of your Finochi model shotgun? How do you compare the Finochi shotguns to the other known brands like remington, benelli, mossberg et al ?

I am looking for a shotgun for hunting mostly birds and maybe deer. I read somewhere that Finochi is essentially a benelli at half the price. Is this true?

Do you mean Franchi perhaps? If so, do a search on that word here or in most any other gun forum, and you'll find a wealth of information.

yes I meant Franchi. that's what happens when one blogs at 2 am..Franchi turns into finochi :)

I had a 20ga Franchi 48 with english stock and 24" barrel. That little gun was a delight to carry, but just wasn't for me. They have been making that gun for over half a century and it is one of the better upland guns. If the terrain was more challenging here, I might still own the shotgun, but it really isn't bad. I use a 20ga wingmaster.

Unfortunately, I don't have experience with any of their newer models. A friend I shoot skeet with has been shooting a Franchi O/U for a couple years. Seems to be a nice field gun. The one thing that worries me about it is the silly shape of the recoil pad. I wonder if 10 yrs down the road, you will be able to get a pad that fits.

To me, they seem like decent guns overall, but my experience is limited. I would do some googling on the models you are looking at and read a bunch of opinions. If a local range has them for rent, then by all means go shoot one.
