Everyone here deserves a thank you from me for the help with links and ideas for locating a proper belt. Here's what I'm doing. I spent a lot of time calling and looking at retail stores for the belt I need. I have found that many retailers can't have in stock every possible belt they advertise. There's just too many I guess. I need a 1 3/4 inch wide belt for comfort because of my 6 foot 5 inch height and 284 pound body. Most belts seem to be carried in the 1 1/2 inch width. Also, since I'm a big guy, I need a bigger belt. Specifically, 48 1/2 inches from the fold of the buckle to the hole I use when you add 2 inches for an IWB holster. I could find all the belts I wanted in 38 to 44 inch length, but very few without a large premium price to allow me to wrap my fat.
I contacted one of our own here, Rayban, who is a for-real person, not a phone number tree and discussed what I was wanting. After talking about his craft a bit since I too work leather, designing and making my own holsters, he said he'd get back to me with a price. By evening I had the information.
I'm having him make me exactly what I want. Laminated black leather, double row red stitching and the length I must have. I'll put his check in the mail today. I encourage anyone here wanting a truly custom belt to PM him and allow him to help you. The belt I'm getting is not in the price range I wanted ($50) but is not far from it. I know exactly what goes into a custom piece of leather though folks, and his price is great for what I'm getting. Don
