Thinking of getting the rifle version in 7.62x39. With good upper end AKs increasing in price I thought about buying the ACE instead. Any negatives to watch for on these?
Any good or bad thoughts on Galil Ace?

The only Galils I have experience with are the typical 5.56 models used by every country in Latin America that can't afford M16's or similar rifles. Not impressed with those.

Price. I've only actually seen one offered for sale, ~$1900 was way north of what I'd be willing to spend on one.
If you want a great gun to shoot 7.62x39 that uses AK mags, check out the CMMG Mutant. Last week I was out with it ringing 2 moa steel plates at 200 & 300 yards off sandbags with a 5X Burris AR-536 prism scope using Wolf FMJ ammo.
I would buy an ACE if I could find one for what I paid for my Mutant (~$1300 after shipping and transfer fee).

The new Galil ACE is a very different rifle than the old versions (so far as I can determine). I don't have any direct experience with the ACE so this is just based on what I have read and seen in reviews but it seems like a solid rifle. A bit expensive for what it offers IMO but interesting.
