Any help for an AR Newbie?

Is there anyone in the Eastern NC area that would be up for mentoring me as an AR newbie? I'm new to rifles (own mostly handguns) but just ordered a RRA Tactical Car A-4.

Areas I most likely need help in:

1. I've never "zero'd" a rifle
2. I've got a red dot to mount and try to co-witness with my front sight
3. I have many dissassembly ?'s, cleaning, etc.
I've been reading on AR-15.com for months now, have the basics...need to put into practice.

4. I may want to build my next AR or add a new upper.


Any help would be appreciated.

I'd suggest starting here at ar15.com and reading, reading, reading.

Go to the discussion forums here, in particular the AR15 page. On that page you'll see AR Discussions, Build it Yourself, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance and Cleaning. I'd spend a few hours poking around. You'll probably be able to answer your own questions.

If you like what you see, spend the $20 and buy a membership to help support the site.
