Any problems with Lee 223 dies in Hornady LNL bushings

I have been using a set of Lee .44mag dies in my new LNL progressive press. I found that to get the dies set properly I had to flip the jam nuts over to reach far enough down through the bushings. The O-ring on the bottom of the locking nut was keeping me from getting the dies to go deep enough. Now that the dies are set I only have maybe 1/2 - 1 thread of engagement on the locking nuts which I guess is OK as they are not holding any load just maintaining position against rotation. I am considering a set of lee dies for 223 to use in the same press but I'm concerned that they may exhibit the same trouble. If they are any worse I'd be sunk. Is anybody using Lee 223's in the LNL progressive? Any issues??

Lee short body size is one of the reason I shy away from them. Ran into that on the 9mm. I have started buying the Hornady Dies. These have plenty of threads and the drop down bullet guide keeps the fingers clear. Beside you get 100 free bullets just pay S&H.

I've used them before, setup the same way you just described. Worked fine, no problems. If you're really concerned, drill and tap a hole into the LnL bushing for a locking screw (or two) through the side of the LnL bushing. I've known of that done, but never felt a need to do so.

I've used 4 sets of lee dies in the LNL. They all have that problem, where I have to screw them all the way in. But they still work.

I have loaded around 5K rounds of. 223 on my LNL AP with LEE dies. They work fine, even though they are on the shorter side. I have never had to remove the the Oring from the locknut, either. Also, I have never had to do this, but I have heard of folks puttin the lock ring on the underside of the press toolhead. I don't think it should come to that, but it might help in a pinch.

There are ways around the short thread problem. I have all kinds of dies and have been able to make them all work.
