I have shot tons of AR-15's and while I love the accuracy, light weight and the ergonomics, I do not like the .223 rem "mouse" round. I love my 7.62x39 Ak's though. I have read all about Special Weapon's AR47's and how problematic they have been. Are there any reliable AR's in 7.62x39 that can shoot laquer cased ammo such as Wolf? Btw, the new Wolf ammo seems to be a lot better than the older stuff. I know of other manufacturers such as Olympic Arms, Knight's SR47, AR47.com's version, Tactical Weapon's AR47 (is this the same company as Special Weapons?), etc. Anyone have any experience with any of these? I'm looking for a rifle in 7.62x39 besides an AK and an AR would be perfect if it was decently reliable. I guess there are always Daewoos, HK clones, Galils, and a few other in 7.62x39.

So, those that have heard anything about AR's in 7.62x39, what have you heard?

I have a little experience with the Colt 7.62x39. Reliable magazines are rare and expensive, and a spare bolt is a good idea, they tend to crack around the cam pin hole. Otherwise they seem OK.

I have a friend with a 7.62x39 upper for his M16, (registered), lower, (among others).

He has suffered a cracked bolt, after only a few hundred rounds.

He will continue to struggle with this cartridge, as this is his nature. My opinion is that the AR-15 system is best adapted to 5.56mm, and 9mm. Of course, I also own a .50 Beowulf upper. I admit that this one seems to work well also.

His .22 conversion is a lot of fun to shoot.
