Any states where you have NOT seen a "No Carry" sign?

Maybe I'm just not paying attention, but I don't think I've ever seen one in Mass, New Hampshire, or Vermont.

Jeff D...

I once ran into (info was posted on TFL) a no-carry sigh on a majior FOrd dealership on Plymouth Road in Livonia Mi.

I went there, and sure enough, on the front door, there it was...

I waited in the lot, and a salesman showed up, so i talked to him about a nice 50 thousand dollar f-350 4x4 super-crew with all the options, even gave him my credit info. (the whole time remaining OUTSIDE the building!)

AFTER he had ok'd everything, and he had "made the sale" (except for me signing paperwork) he asked me to come inside and sign for the truck... I feigned "noticing" the sign, and informed him that I could not in good concience purchase a vehicle from a place that didn't believe in my right to defend myself...

he brought out the manager, who said they could "waive" the requirement, and met me in "while armed" to buy the truck...

I told them to go urinate up a rope... and said i thought i'd go to their competition, Dick Scott Dodge on Ann Arbor Rd. and buy a Dodge, since THEY weren't trying to infringe on my rights...

2 days later, I drove into that ford dealers lot after hours, and the vinyl stick-on "no gun" signs were GONE from the door!

Never seen one in PA.

The closest I've seen are the various "Keep your carry gun in its holster" signs at gunshops, and the usual courthouse deals.

AFAIK, PA went shall issue before all the "posted sign" nonsense became popular, and there's no provision for it in PA law, praise the deity of your choice.

After all, our RKBA for the purposes of defending ourselves and our state "shall not be QUESTIONED." (except under a few arcane and baffling circumstances)

i saw a picture of one once on the news here at a bank... never saw one in person, though, except at gunshops which say 'any firearm you intend to remove from its holster or case must be unloaded'.

The only private business I've seen posted here in ND was the corporate headquarters of the bank I do business with. The posting is at the bottom of a "Community First Customer Parking Only" sign, with a font less than 1/4 the size of the rest of the text. It reads "Alcohol and Firearms STRICTLY Prohibited." That doesn't apply to permit holders in my state, so I ignore and continue to do business with them since none of the branches are posted. The wording on the sign is hardly noticeable, and could very well be some middle man's way of giving management a warm fuzzy without carrying any actual weight. Also, since I've only seen it on the parking ramp, there's nothing to indicate they even mean the actual bank itself.

The bank was recently bought out, and if the new management wants to post all branches, and in a highly conspicuous manner, I will consider moving my accounts and letting them know why.

Odd, the post didn't show up after I kept reloading the thread, then upon repost of the origional, both appeared.

Various restaurants, government buildings, on campus, libraries, and some retail stores.

I live in the Empire State where it is so difficult to get a carry permit once you have it you can pretty much go anywhere.
If you live in NY state, it's actually easy to get a carry permit. Other than NYC, NY state is a de facto shall-issue state. A pistol permit must be issued within 6 months, or you must be informed in writing of the specific reasons for denial.

Outside NYC and a few surrounding counties, unrestricted carry permits are routinely issued, and are good for life.

I've never seen a sign in NY banning CCW. Not even sure if it'd be legal here. :)

For Washington, I've seen them at both public and private hospitals, the SSA office (they wrongly claim it's illegal to carry there), and the Southcenter mall. The posting at the Southcenter mall was prominent several years ago, but now it's just small print lost on a sign of various rules. It says something like "posession of any weapons, either legal or illegal, is prohibited - this includes knives, pepperspray, guns, etc..." They have a knife store that sells knives primarily used as weapons, by the way.

I've saw them posted in several rest areas along Hwy 99 between Fresno and SoCal.
No kidding? I have stopped at some of the I-5 rest stops between Bakersfield and the Bay, but have never seen any signs.

That is the one nice thing about the PRK, if you do have CCW, no one thinks you do. I am sure when people meet me the last thing they would think is, "Wow that guy has a Glock 27 in his waistband". It is more like, "He must be happy to see me." Just kidding. Sorry.

I've never seen one in Idaho. Here in the courthouse they people go thru a metal detector, if you're carrying your weapon you're told to put it in your car.

Oddly enough - the only sign I've ever seen here in Florida is hanging outside a GUNSHOP :what: in Melbourne, FL.

I don't shop there or shoot there anymore.

i have not seen a sign personally in Cali. but we do have places where they are not allowed. Courthouses and some public buildings and of course fedeal buildings and post offices. Drinking establishments and gaming casinos would also be a NO.

The average person does not realize that some people have CCW's in this state! SF City/County had a grand total of ten with several hundred thousand residents. My former county had maybe 150 thousand residents and had over five-hundred permits. My current county has over six-hundred permits.

Each county seems to have different criteria for issuance. My reason for a permit in my new county was not reason enough until the issuing office gave me some tips on what was needed.

Phil Cal has it down.

Which really does work in the favor of the few in the urban areas... they just NEVER think that the bulge on your hip is anything other than a mobile-phone or a Palm Pilot or some such. A gun? Good Lord NO! In the Macy's store on Union Square? not possible... yeah right... not possible...

I found another one in North Little Rock.

Small Pawn Shop , under the "We buy guns" he had a handwritten sign " NO firearms allowed".

Since this is "improper signage" , I need to go in and see what is up - carrying concealed of course. :p

There was a Gas Station in Ohio , I forget , near Cincinatti I think. With AR res and Fl non res...and Ohio "laws" , I would have driven straight through the state like I normally do...took a detour because of an accident , and had to use the restroom.

I pick a gas station that 3 LEOs come into, I didn't see the sign until I exited...someone was standing in front of sign when I entered.

" If that is your truck , you are a long way from home son". I just answered " Yes Sir and left. I was headed to PA. :)

That was the trip I took starting from Alabama, to TX to the far upper part of PA - non stop. Tired puppy when I arrived.

Wolf,
The IMAX theater on Powers had one last time I went there. It's been about a year. Only one I've seen in five years here.

Steve

QuarterBoreGunner: Yup, BTDT, I do not go to SF unarmed. I worked there 27 years and old habits die hard! We were at Macy*s across from Union Square at the Cheesescake Factory when my son and his fiance were here from Switzerland some months back.I recogniszed some society type liberals that i had seen photos of the the papers. They would have had a fit if they new someone in the place was armed.
