Any companies make bolt action 30-30's?
Could you guys list me a few manufacturers? Preferably American Made, thanks!

I doubt there are any current offerings, but the Rem 788 was chambered in it. I think there was Savage offering, too at one time!

Yes Savage made an inexpensive bolt action 30-30. I think 340 was the model number. You can still find them with a little looking.

Shotgunner;

Four Remington 788 .30-30's on GunsAmerica this morning. Two of them in the $400.00 - 450.00 range. The third one is listed as "flawless" at $650.00. The fourth one must be a truly exceptional firearm as it's asking price is $835.00.

GA#'s: 976625517, 976630498, 976631797, & 976288821.

I just thought a bolt action with a 5 round mag would be a nice gun. I guess I'm going to have to get a levergun then.

Thanks though.

Don't give up too fast...

www.gunbroker.com shows a variety of Savage/Stevens 30-30 bolties for $165-250. I'd imagine if you keep your eye on Gunbroker for a couple days you can find a deal you like.

Check out this previous THR thread on the exact same subject: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=148666&highlight=bolt+action+30-30

Not trying to push you to buy a bolt-action, but if you're looking for something a little off the beaten track, might as well go for it. The Remington's might be a bit pricey, but the Savage or Stevens models look pretty reasonable. Let us know how it works out.

Don't forget, Charles Daly imports those Zastava mini-Mausers in 7.62x39mm as well. I haven't heard as much about those, but am a bit curious. Are they pretty much the same product as the CZs?

Of course, 7.62x39mm would be more affordable for bulk shooting and plinking. But if you can buy a $150 bolt action 30-30 that you just plan to use for hunting, that does change the whole price ratio...

Why? There was a Savage 340 at a local gun shop just last month - unless you're in a real hurry, you CAN find what you're looking for...

I think all the bolt 30-30s Ive ever seen had 3 or MAYBE 4 round mags. I have a .44 mag 788 set up for specialized use. It is scoped to shoot down loaded .44 mag ammo to quietly and rapidly put down suburban deer and such ;)
