i have a KEL TEC SUB 2000 9mm Glock 17 version that i have had for a few months now , needless to say it is my favorite firearm - very fun to plink with !
i have installed a small picitiny rail on the front bottom forend for a bipod that i ordered and a folding forgrip that i am about to order.
problem is , im not that great of a shot with the site's that are already mounted to it - not sure how to adjust the laser that is on it for looks right now that normally is on my Taurus 917C , so im going to try to customize it with a nice sniper scope that i am waiting to get from fed ex any day now with a Tactical Tri Rails Scout Mount For Rifles And Carbines that is actually used on Mosin Nagant rifles - i am hoping to find a way to affix it to my top forend as to mount my scope - has anybody here had any success with a custom scope mount (a youtube video on the kel tec factory scope mount says that the Kel Tec version sucks , so im taking his advice ?)
i hope that thse pics or thumbnails that i will try to attatch to this thread will work for you to see what i will be working with ??
any 411 on what i am trying to do is already appreciated
p.s. i oreded these parts from cheaper than dirt - scope item number is scp-119 , tact tri rail sope mount item number is mgr-324 and my bipod item number is bipod-103

thanks again ~ BillyBA

I can't answer all your questions. I do have a G17 model like yours. However, I would make a few points:

1. A bipod is unnecessary on this firearm. It wouldn't hurt, but I don't think you need it for the ranges it is designed for.

2. The sights look horrible and cheap but they are surprisingly good (for me, at least). I find them to be very accurate all things considered.

3. The two most important accessories can be ordered directly from Kel-Tec. First, the sling/mounts is really nice as this gun is nice and light to sling over your back. The sling is also great to use as a "steady-sling" instead of a bipod. Consider also the stock extension as the gun is a little short for someone with long arms like me.

The front sight is a difficult piece of work. Hard to adjust, and many don't have enough lateral adjustment because they may have been put on incorrectly at the factory. Also very chinzy looking plastic.

On the www.KTOG.org owners website there are a couple of threads that deal with replacing the plastic front sight with the all metal front sight from a Hi-Point 995 carbine. Go to "bulletin board", then look for SUB9-SUB2000 section. Someone else did it first, but I detail my installation using the same name, Speedo66.

Takes a little work with a Dremel tool, but looks great and works fine for me.

As far as adding "tacticool" stuff, in my opinion the extra weight and complexity sort of takes away from the basic appeal of a light and simple weapon. May also inhibit the ability to fold, which is what makes it so cool to me in the first place.

But, as they say, to each his own.
