I found this radio show last week by accident, and I was pretty favorably impressed. It is pretty interesting, and nice to hear some pro-liberty programming.

Of course, it isn't perfect. One guy called up and said "I just bought an AK-47--"
The host jumps in "I highly doubt that. I think you bought an SKS. Is it full auto?"
"No," the guy murmurs.
"Then it's not an AK-47. It's probably a variant of an SKS."
The guy got out his manual and it said that it is a Romanian SAR-1 AK-47 clone.
The host wasn't convinced.

But, to kind of even things out, they had a Brownell's commercial offering a free Brownell's Catalog, so I called them and got one ;) . (I am such a tightwad! )

Since the price was basically the only thing that turned me away from brownells in the first place, the show gets my vote.

For any of you in/around Utah, it's on AM 700, noon on sundays. ;)

Cheers,
Wes

Hi. I'm the host. And it wasn't an AK-47, or was it?

But, if you would like, just call in. We are on the air right now.

Call 1-866-TALK-GUNS.

Also, you can hear the show right now online at www.kxam.com

We have an hour and a half left today. Come join the fun.

THe more, the merrier. Let's Talk Guns.

I live in Germany and I eagerly look forward to listening every week.

Listen to Guntalk every Sunday.
Great fun and VERY informative! Especially for folks like me who do not live in the States and thus do not have all of the rights and priveldges you all have. Enjoy the show and learn a few things too!

Hmmm. One post. Registered today. 'Comment' that sounds like cut-and-paste from a script for a promotional spot.

:scrutiny:

Hmmm.....

Quartus: I see your "Hmmm..." and raise you a :scrutiny: :scrutiny: :scrutiny: ...

I've listened to Gresham's show occasionally, and I've seen him "Guns & Ammo TV". He's not bad at all. And, most of the time, he knows his guns.

My beef comes from the "don't tell anyone what stations my show is on because they might cancel me" attitude. I don't remember ANY conservative, pro-gun talk show host (Rush Limbaugh, G.Gordon Liddy, Glenn Beck, Neil Boortz) doing that. In fact, they promoted themselves to areas where they WEREN'T heard in order to build a fan base & get on the stations. And look at them today... :D

Gresham is the ONLY one doing this kind of show (firearms & safety). He could do RKBA a great service through this media, but he plays coy with its distribution. If the show's good enough (and I think it is), it will survive & thrive on its own. If not, it will die off & something (or someone) better will come along (Garry James, perhaps?).

If you want to run with the big dogs, you have to get off the porch...

I tried listening today but there was some problem with Real Player.

I called in once and talked to Oleg about the High Road for a minute or so.

Jumpin' Jehozafat, you guns have radio programs about GUNS where you live?

The only time guns get mentioned on the radio here is when one of the "just went off" and "took the life of a local child".

:barf: I don’t listen to the Gun Talk dribble anymore.

I had called in when the new owner of S&W was Tom’s guest.
I asked some good informative questions about policy and Tom skirted around the answers like any good politician.
When I pushed for the correct answers, I was hung up on.
I was polite the whole time.
This is typical of a show host who can't hold his own in a discussion.

It is his show and he can do as he pleases.
So can I by leaving the dial on another station.

My local station used to carry the last two hours of Gun Talk. I hated it. Not the show but the fact that if a football or basket ball fell off the shelf at K-Mart three states away, the local station would override Gun Talk to cover the sorry event. Really p---ed me off to look forward to something on a rainy day and end up listening to a bunch of over payed dopers grab each others a$$es.
There used to be a show called The Loading Bench but haven’t heard about it in five years. It came on Saturday evening and was a good show as well. Kinda laid back but good.
Hi Tom. Glad you have streaming audio.

Michael Savage (if anybody here doesn't know who he is, I'll try to find his site. He also wrote "The Savage Nation and his radio show goes by the same name, but be warned, he is exactly what Liberals mean when they say "Right-wing Extremist) is based in San Francisco, I believe. Hannity's in NYC, I think.

Anyhoo, do any stations carry it in the NoVA/Wash Metro area?

So let me get this straight? We have a talk show about guns ect... and the host doesn't want anyone to know what stations and markets his show plays on because he is afraid he will be shut down?

And there are how many gun owners nation wide? If there is nothing offensive ( not kid approved) about the show then why not tell the world. Holy Cow!!

Maybe if we e-mail the host he can send us an encoded message that only true gun owners can decode and then we can find out if this show just happens to be in are area??

Sorry folks but if this is true, I just don't get it. I guess I'm just a little slow...

Aint the West GREAT!

I doubt that we will be seeing ANY show about guns on WBAL or WCBM any time soon!

I listen every week. Problem is I live so far away from civilization that the only radio broadcasts we receive are NPR:barf: stations. The upside is that if I don't catch a streaming audio broadcast on the internet, I can listen to the archived broadcasts.........commercial free:D once they are posted on the site.
Hey Tom, if you read this, how about getting your broadcasts archived a little faster? I hate having to wait a couple of weeks sometimes.:p

pgp is good for that...

I love how this guy talks about the talk show and the host replys, to funny.

Here are some tv shows. And GOA has a talk radio show..coocoo heh Yea, I want to hear the one where he tells him he doesn't have a ak clone. Where can I get the archived broadcasts?

Actually, yes, it was a Romanian SAR-1 AK-47 clone. I don't mean to sound contentious, that just caught me off guard. There are AKs that aren't full autos that are still AKs. ;)

I enjoy your show. Keep up the good fight!

Wes

Anyone, anywhere in the U.S., can get Gun Talk.

It's carried live on the Sirius satellite system. www.sirius.com

It's carried on the net, live streaming, from KBNP and KXAM radio stations.

It's archived on the www.guntalk.com web site, so you can listen to any show from the last year.

The show has been on the air for 8 1/2 years and is in about 60 markets. Anyone who wants to know if there is a station nearby can send an email I'll check, and respond. [email protected]

It's not unusual for web sites to not list the stations -- especially weekend speciality shows like Gun Talk. We are, however, probably going to make a change and list the stations on the web site soon. We are working on an overhaul of the web site.

For the gentleman who said he was cut off, I don't remember that call (more than a year ago), but perhaps I can explain what may have happened. The reality of talk radio is that it is not a conversation with the caller. Well, it is, but is isn't. It's entertainment featuring the host, the guests, and the callers. All are there for the entertainment of the listener. There is a clock on the wall. When it hits a certain time, a commercial will run, and no one can change that. I can keep talking, but I'll be talking to myself.

Some callers want to go on at length, which is a challenge. One question per caller is standard, though some always want "just one more." Attention spans are measured in seconds, not in minutes, and I must keep it moving.

And, I do make mistakes -- often. I'm listening to the caller, listening to the producer (who is 900 miles away), reading the computer screen for the callers (with details on where they are from and what they want to talk about) reading email, participating in the chat room, and checking the web for information. Oh, and watching the clock. Not complaing, mind you. It's fun. But sometimes I have to cut off a caller because the music is running and we are 10 seconds away from the computer-controlled commercial break.

When I get something wrong, call in and correct me. Everyone else does! <grin>

Then again, sometimes I thank the caller and move on because 1. He's boring, 2. He's offensive, 3. He's covering ground we just covered, 4. He's on a crummy cell phone connection, 5. He has a chip on his shoulder and something to try to prove, or any of a number of other reasons.

For anyone who thinks I was rude, I apologize. I try to never be rude. I also will not allow a caller to be rude to a guest who has consented to be on the show.

In the end, I want the show to be fun to listen to, I want the non-shooting public who hears the show to go away with the realization that we are the good guys in this debate, I want us to be able to talk about neat guns and shooting sports, I want us all to invite more people to the range so we can introduce them to shooting.

Oh, and I often direct folks to THR as a source of information on guns.

Remember, it's supposed to be fun.

I listen to some SW radio Pro Gun programs. Theres one guy name "Alex" last name and station unknown. I believe that he broadcast from TX. Pretty informative stuff.;)
