Anyone actually buy from Bud's et al

I mainly use Bud's when I buy. I am really more about convenience than price. I can order what I want from Bud's without a hassle and it is sent to a store near me house with a $15 transfer fee. Works really well for me.

I buy from Buds when they are the cheapest. It has been a while, though. My last was a new Colt National Match for $985 shipped.

I would agree with others. Plain-Jane common firearms, especially lower end items like the 10-22 generally don't have the margins to make getting them through online retailers any better than buying locally. If anything you may find a sale at a bigbox store for less. If you are looking at mid tier and high end items, or unusual items like a close out or surplus then the online guys are definitely your "friend in the business".

I have bought a few items in the last year and all have gone well (Atlantic, Tennessee Guns, Southern Ohio, and a couple gunbroker listings). Past experiences with Gandermountain's online store, Aim Surplus, and Buds have also been good however since they were a couple years ago I don't know if anything has changed with them.

Heck yeah I buy from them. I just picked up 2 pistols and started my silencer paperwork with them a few days ago. That's on top of a pistol I bought last year. It helps that they are up the road a ways, but their prices are often far better than I can find anywhere else.

The only downside was when at one point I called to find out why delivery was so slow, a manager got on and threatened to halt the sale if I complained any more. I thought that was extremely poor customer support.

I've hears similar stories from other people as well.

My Cz P09 came from Buds. The only local shop that had one wanted $589 plus tax ( 9% so $642 total ) for the gun and two magazines. Buds was $449 shipped for the gun with three magazines and the hard case. A local pawn shop did the transfer for $20.

For most common guns I will buy locally. but for the more ‘oddball’ things online is the way to go.

I had been watching Gun Broker for some time for a Savage BVSS to come up at a good price and Bud’s had one. It took several months of watching, but at last it was. So I jumped on it and saved something like $200.00.

Now put in taxes for the LGS. I also do the price match....just put in a low-ball and put Grab-a-gun as the store and it will lower your price somewhat. My transfers are $20.

It doesn't pay to do a Glock or any other $500 gun. Get into a $1500 rifle and it's real money.

The vast majority of my firearm purchases are online. I just happen to live in an area with very reasonable transfer prices ($20) and very high new gun prices. Pretty much everything locally is MSRP and, while I am sure many of the local shops would haggle a bit, I don't see a reason to haggle with them when I can just get the price online without fuss.

Transfer fees around me are rediculous. $75 min and usually more like $100

This is precisely why we need to fight Universal Background Checks!

Effective a "poll tax" on our Second Amendment Rights!

We might compromise if they did somehting like took the C&R-03 license, kept the requirements the same but expanded it to be a "non-commercial" or "non-profit" dealer allowing holders to buy and sell all firearms on it and do transfers so the greatly expanded universe of "dealers" that could do background checks would help keep prices low.

When I've bought online, I have to consider all the factors, such as S&H, taxes, local FFL fee (if not a C&R), availability and price locally.
I have to "put the pencil to it " on every transaction before I decide to buy in each and every case.
Local or online? There is no "one size fits all".

I ordered a gun from Buds online and picked it up at their retail store in Lexington Ky. Good experience. Just ordered a gun recently at local Walmart and had no problems. Depends on who is less expensive at the time.

I like Buds. They seem to like me back.
Now, for the best deal, I'll prowl the LGS. But, itf I want something my LGS does not stock, Bud's becomes the go-to. Mostly becasue it's easier than having my LGS go look one up and special order it for me.

Now, in all fairness, lately all my Bud's orders have been ammo and accessories my LGS just can't afford to stock just to suit my whimsy. They have deals with their distributors that let them stock the brands they stock at an advantageous price point. So, if I want HST or the like, I pretty much need an on-line source. Already have a Bud's account, so, a reasonable match-up.

My 2¢

I have bought from Bud's. Found the shipping somewhat slow. Sometimes online dealers have stuff the locals don't.

Here in Florida, you don't save on taxes by buying online. If an online retailer doesn't charge sales tax, we have to contact the state and pay it ourselves. In this case it's called "use tax." I try to find retailers who charge tax in order to avoid the hassle of paying it myself.

SERIOUSLY!?!?!? When did that crap start!? I grew up in FL (moved away 10+ years ago) I've never heard of such a thing.

I have bought from Grabagun before but I had them ship the rifle to their retail location that is 20 mins from my office. I picked it up there at lunch and did the paperwork there. No FFL fee or shipping but had to pay sales tax. I guess it was a net.

Glad I have a cheap FFL here in Houston.

I have used Bud's twice in December to buy a Walther PPSM2 LE and a Walther ppk/s. Saved a ton, about $140. each. I noticed the other day that Grabagun had the PPSM2 LE for $300. more than Bud's! Don't know if it was an error but holy cow! Bud's is very good just wait for your price. They put on sales all the time.

Grabagun, Bud's, Kentucky Gun, Gunprodeals…
I buy from who has it, at a price I want. I haven't had any problems. I must have watched the price of the stainless Eagle every night for a couple of months. I finally bought it to stop thinking about it!

I even bought one at the local outfitters once. It was actually a good deal.

I've bought a few at Bud's and at Kentucky Gun Company. My preferred dealer's inbound fee is twenty dollars.

To get the "cash price" at Bud's, place your order and indicate you'll be sending a check. They'll hold the firearm until the check arrives and clears, then send it out. I've never done it that way, as I simply prefer to pay a bit more for fast shipping (I typically see the gun arriving in my dealer's hands within three working days.)

None of the guns I've bought online could have been had locally for less than 10-15 percent above what I ended up paying in total.

Places like Bud's and KyGunCo cannot discount much an already-inexpensive gun that much, like a "plain jane Ruger 10/22." But the Ruger .357 Vaquero I'm eyeing as my next purchase starts at Bud's at already more than $100 less than I can get it price-marked locally.

I get that some products are already at the margins. But I've seen this even with what I consider to be expensive guns. When I bought my Redhawk, Buds was only about $20 less than Sportsman's Warehouse (after shipping and FFL fees), so I just bought it at SW. That was an almost nine-hundred dollar gun.
