I have the 45 as my EDC, and own several 9mm pistols including M&P and Glock. Any reason to buy this one, other than the controls would be the same?

I bought one today at lunch,I have the 45 and like it a lot.
I bought this one hoping the wife like's it enough to give me back my
CZ P-01.

Ain't that the truth, they always like the good ones

I use to have the .45 but traded it for something. I picked up the 9mm version yesterday and put 100 round through it today. It handles like a dream.

I also find the 45 to be the close to perfect carry weapon, I just wish it took 1 more round, The extended mag is a little too extended. Maybe they will make a 6 round mag, that would be perfect. But in the meantime I really have a tough time carrying anything else when it is so small and still is a 45 rather than a 9 or 40. Every time I pick up another gun to carry, I think why not take the 45, it is as small as any other gun, "other than a 380 lcp", and it really doesn't make that much of a difference in size or weight at that point.
If I can carry the lcp, I can carry the XDS. Single stack guns really made a come back. When I pick up my old Glock 30, it feels enormous now.

Just recently picked up an XDs 9mm. Search for my name to see my thread on it.

I'm #2 on the list for one at the local GS. Hopefully it will be in in a couple weeks at the latest. He has them on order, it's just a matter of what comes in and when.

That's a good question. You've already stated that your current XD-S in .45 Auto is the perfect carry gun so what would be the purpose of an XD-S in 9mm, for you? Do you have an M&P or GLOCK in .45 Auto to go with those 9mm pistols that you already have? If so, why? There are many folks that own a G26 & G36 or G19 & G30 for no better reason that they like the platform and like variety. My XD-S (.45 Auto) shipped from Springfield so I should have it any day now. If I like it I may well end up ordering an XD-S in 9mm for no other reason than I would use it for CC and I'm heavily invested in the 9mm Luger both from a reloading and factory ammunition perspective.

That's the real question. I've had one in .45 since last December. It does its job very well. I see no reason FOR ME to buy another one in 9mm. If you just want one man, go for it.

The only reason would be the usual, why not? i switch it up every few years. I finally settled on 9mm and 45 caliber, after almost 4.5 decades of carrying. So perhaps the XDS could take the place of my 26 or M&P and keep the 2 calibers I use in the same model gun instead of Glock, Smith, and Springfield. It would be very efficiant, but I really like glock 26's.
I have to shoot one and see if I can simpify life even further. I recentlly got a bug for a revolver, after finally getting rid of my last one a couple years ago. That's what make it fun, if we kept the same thing forever and never switched it would get tired. I just like to find the newest best gun that comes out for my own gratification, and the most effeciant means of protecting myself and others.
I started with a Dective Special in 1972.
I was one of those people who had a 26,27 23, and 19. Then slowlly got others that evolved into the ones I have now, it's a constant evolution depending on what comes out and where your head is at when it happens. I never thought back in the 70's that I would own guns that held 18 rounds either. The single stack Walther and Colt were "it" at the time. But things continue to change in this sport/lifestyle.
