I've been looking to make my first purcahse for a while, but it is taking some time while I wait for a class that both my wife and I can attend together with someone to watch the kids. In the meantime, I've been researching semiauto pistols and figure I'll probably end up with a glock 19 or sig p226. I hope to get some spare magazines, but like everyone, am having trouble finding anything that holds more than 10 rounds, and even those are a challenge.

My LGS does have 20 rd mini 30 mags and has had 30 rd mini 14s (although gone as of this weekend). They don't seem to have a high markup. Should I pick up a few so I could make a trade after things settle down? Just wondering your thoughts. I'm not trying to hoard 10 of these, just 2-3 to allow me to trade into what I want down the road. thought?
Thanks!

Thanks Captain

Thanks for your response. I take it that you don't feel that upcoming legislation will drastically change what is being offered in the marketplace. I guess no one really knows, but as someone that hasn't had much exposure to the world of firearms in the past, the "sky is falling" arguments weigh heavily on me. I'd be perfectly conent to order on backorder, but I haven't even been able to find that option anywhere. thanks again for your input!

The proposed legislation specifically prohibits the sale and transfer of grandfathered mags, so even if I were concerned, that plan would not be feasible from a legal standpoint.

I am considering trading some 30 round AR mags for five round mags as I have one five rounder and around 20 30 rounders.

In Maine you can only hunt with five rounders, and you are not going to believe this but some of us hunt with AR-15's :)

You hear that Elizabeth? I'm coming to join you honey! :D

Some magazines may never go out of style but finding reasonably priced ones currently to trade for what might be normally priced mags you want later could be an iffy gamble.
