Did anyone catch Zak Smith’s article on the Armalite AR15 A2. It was a well written and informative. It was also a good reminder of how capable you can be with open sights and an A2 rifle. It was nice to see someone put an AR through its paces with out everything but the kitchen sink hanging from it. It was also kinda neat to get the back story on Armalite.

If you haven’t read the article and are either into ARs or contemplating buying one, this magazine “Book of the AR” is a good read.

For thoes wondering

I think that this is Zak Smith... One of our MOD's...

Zak's a good writer, and he's very knowledgable. And unlike a lot of people who write for gun magazines, he actually knows how to shoot well.

Great Article!

Loved that article, Zak.....and I love my Armalite M15A4 SPR with plain old iron sights too....it was nice to see someone shooting an AR that didn't have $1500 worth of accessories hanging off it.:)

A very informative write-up, I learned a lot about how Armalite has upgraded the little things to make for a more reliable rifle.

Plus anyone who wears a USN hat and gets it published in a magazine is okay by me.

Dude! I had no idea that was you!!! not only a great article, but the A2 is still my alltime fave ar, reaches out there , quite nicely.

Zak is a pretty good writer, and I enjoyed his article. I wish he could get hired on at GUNS. Thats my favorite magazine and they sorely need a younger writer on staff. I love Taffin, Venturino, Ayoob, Petty and Anderson, but I think everyone of those guys is a granddad now and a little shot of youth wouldn't hurt the magazine a bit.

Gonna hafta get that mag! I have an Armalite A2. First AR I ever owned personally, and it's been through several tac training courses with me. Nary a hiccup and a real tack driver with good ammo. I've run Wolf through it with no problems, but never again!
